Rather quietly recently, Scott Sagan has pitched a write up on a global nuclear disarmament policy. I say quietly, because most people outside of politics and academia won't see or hear anything about it. That's primarily to do with Science publications and their rather high subscription fees, but that aside I decided to give my own little spin on the topic. A call for global nuclear disarmament ? I agree, how-ever I don't see it actually happening with the way things are run today. There's too many international grudges and paranoid xenophobic fixations. The countries may agree to do it for the sake of public appearances and the like, but many would probably hide warheads underground someplace. They'd claim it were in defense if caught, though it would really be out of paranoia.

It was a dark day when man figured out how to weaponize the atom. I relate it to giving a Chimpanzee a shotgun. We're an intelligent developing species, but we lack the conscious development to really reflect on the actions taken as a collective. We're too impulsive and act with little regard with foresight in mind. I look at the the ecological damage we've created in the name of economics as an example. We're scrambling now to try and correct that. Even the attempted correction isn't without it's arbitrary elements. Whether you're for or against national/international defense/M.A.D; The fact of the matter is, there is no responsible use of nuclear armaments. Hiroshima and Nagasaki have shown that. The risks and costs involved in maintaining and using them outweigh any benefit.

If I were to make any suggestions in dealing with the potential hazards of fanatical groups or tyrannical political regimens, it would be to dispose of spent nuclear fuel with browns gas. Brown's gas is pretty cool. I utilizes a quasi-stable water molecule base that causes it to collapse into a oxygenated hydrogen gas-like state. It's almost like an etheric plasma flame. The result is a flame that doesn't burn human flesh, but can literally melt firebricks, tungsten, and several alloys/metals in a matter of seconds. It's most interesting property though, is it's ability to burn off radioactive materials. It's been proven to significantly reduce radiation by about 95% to about 98% if I remember correctly. It's been shown to be effective in dealing with Americium, Cobalt, Uranium, and Plutonium. The Chinese use it to deal with the spent fuel from their Nuclear subs. After the spent fuel is burned off with browns gas, the dust is rendered inert, and has no potential be used in weapons applications. There's just one idea in dealing with this problem. I'm a working class nobody, so it should be no great feat for humanity's finest and brightest to address this growing problem.

And I understand, people in high places have more power right at hand to resolve this imperative issue and be done with it. I agree with Sketti on her above statement, too. Those people in high places need a mind and heart like yours and then we would have more empathetic and responsible choices being made on such issues, for the betterment of humanity and all life.

Reminds me of the effects the depleted uranium has been having on the births of countless babies over in the Middle East. It saddens me greatly to see all of the pictures of those sweet babies and that it has come to this. It is even sadder when people turn a blind eye to them. Those should be enough to jumpstart a major boycott of all nuclear and radioactive weaponry.

We are already evolving, some people faster than others.
We will always have new discoveries to make that will often have a good/bad impact depending on how the new tech is put to use.
The problems we have to overcome are inside our own heads for the main part and are not external.
Money is probably the number 1 issue humanity has right now, it is reaching the end of its paradigm.
Religion is the next man made monstrosity which blocks our true spirituality.

If we can conquer those two then humanity stands a chance, if not...well we basically face extinction and I'm not exaggerating at all imho.
The japanese nation itself is on the brink of extinction, their fertility rate is way too low, fukushima is just accelerating whats happening. In only two generations they stand to see an incredible drop off and an incredible amount of pensioners which cannot be supported financially as early as 2050. The money just aint there, the numbers have been run again and again and I doubt any japanese pm wants to be in office when that time comes.
They may even have a euthanasia program...

These are some great documentaries on this subject, I am All I am. They're new to me. The use of depleted uranium in munitions shows a complete lack of compassion or understanding for life. Unfortunately, war and violence will likely be a part of our species for a while, but this is just unacceptable. Thank you for the documentaries and the info, it's appreciated.

I agree Andy, we are evolving. It's a constant thing. You're also right that inventions have the potentiality to improve life, or take it. It just depends on the minds developing and utilizing it. I agree again with your statements on banking and religions. Both systems are redundant. The sooner more folks see it, the sooner things will actually start to progress.
I like the Japanese people and culture, so the thought of losing them is unsettling. The euthanasia portion reminds me of Soylent Green.
