cannon fodder becomes and equal opportunities business - yay :ar:
Sometimes, if you stand on the bottom rail of a bridge and lean over to watch the river slipping slowly away beneath you, you will suddenly know everything there is to be known.

This is what we've been told we were fighting for all these years, thor. Did you miss that memo? ;)

Bring back conscription, I say!

I don't really...but millions doubtless will.

I wonder if the forces' suicide rates have anything to do with little boys not wanting to grow up to be soldiers any more.

rt.com/usa/news/us-army-suicide-rate-025/

The average suicide rate in the US military – 24 suicides per 100,000 soldiers – is lower than the civilian suicide rate for men aged 17 to 60 – 25 suicides per 100,000 in 2010.

Nothing new in suicides in the military. 86 was scraping a blokes brains of corrigated metal sheeting in Africa, 93 a yank ex Green Beret did the same in Bosnia.

If ever in an emergency situation in the winter, I would glady partake in shared bodily warmth in the nude, with the big sheila.

Walking water bottles in your back.

Well now that you've said that, I'll have to look into it to satisfy myself that it's right, & if so, try to fathom why it's being presented differently. Although you're quoting 2010 fig's, and the item I linked is talking about a 15% rise last year. Hmmmm.

Oh yes - so you were. It's the 15% rise last year that would need to be checked against the civilian rate to see if there's any significance. Unless that's already in there & I'm too bog-eyed to see it - I suppose I'd best cast my squinty little eyes over it again to make sure. :D

*Edit* No, I don't think so.
