I wondered how long it would be before Run appeared...... I'm surprised he's managed to tear himself away from the Immersion box sets!
Some good stuff posted, cheers Run I'll have a scan at some of it later... the thread is for rarities though rather than the bleeding commercially released Pulse & Delicate Sound of Thunder !
Donkey!
:D

I like the look of the Roger Waters Wall stuff though so I'll give that a watch if the quality is good.

:O commercially released Immersion box sets :P :D

Tbh man most of the stuff on those box sets has been kicking around for years on boots, ive got, had,or heard the majority of it tbh and it's a waste of money IMO!

Now then! you want rarities!
(Spankslikehell!) :spank:
A Rare Gem Emerges As most Floyd fans would know, there is hardly any decent footage of the band from the 1973 period. Well now we have some great news! A stunning 12 minute plus 8mm film recently turned up and the quality is exceptional. It was filmed at the Municipal Auditorium, Atlanta, Georgia on 24 March 1973.Whilst the footage is silent, don't despair. The sound gurus have been at work and have taken the sound from another show of the same tour and overlayed the sound on the footage. What you see below is a rough cut as the final version is still being worked on. Nick Mason has seen the video and is said to be delighted! If you want more information about this rare find, then we suggest you join the world's largest Pink Floyd/Roger Waters forum. You never know, you might be able to score a free copy of the finished product in the near future if you do. www.pinkfloydz.com/

yeh fair point! But beyond the realms of affordability for most & the quality is better than any bootlegs that have been doing the rounds.
I'd never heard the early mix of DSOTM before & that took my face off. The quality of the live mix released of it as well is incredible for a live concert in that era... obviously touched up using modern mastering tech.
I'd never heard all the Wall demos either so some interesting stuff there (for avid Floyd fans... otherwise it probably sounds a bit shit!)
There was also the releases of the concert screen footage with the music which I've not seen yet if you know of any links to that?

Are you aware of any further stuff to come? there was talk of some early years stuff but Nick Mason reckons they were struggling for material.

That's true but there's so much stuff takes years to get through or by recommendation, most of the boots i got were not great quality but did get some great stuff too.

There was a heap of Screen footage on the pulse dvd release some of which was the same as the stuff used in some of the original tours

The Darkside Of The Moon - Concert Screen Footage.
Live at the Wembley Empire Pool Lomdon 16/11/1974.

I think that's what you mean? there you go man ;)

Pink Floyd - Welcome To The Machine (Original screen footage used during the tour)

Space Bandit wrote:

Tbh that's all i know too man, ide like to hear some like obscured by clouds stuff in great quality, Ive yet to find some.

As for footage though that's basically all that exists, as far as complete concerts/appearances go (well watchable stuff) there is lots of single track footage or even two track, i'l maybe post that in some day but that's about the best of it there.

As for the Floyd in general, they were a band 30+ years ahead of their time!

the issues and subjects the sang about, the gov/politics. society, humanity, life death, insanity, mental health, etc but it's been done in such an unique way, that let's be honest no one done or can do now, and these issues are gonna be as prominent in 100 years time as they were then, or are now!

Take Welcome to the machine & Have a cigar, those two tracks are mainly about big record company's and the "Celebrity Machine"
or rolling stones "Machine" lady "Gaga Machine" Etc.... grow into what it becomes! and is what's often spoke about on forums like this one.

one last example the lyrics "if the band your in starts playing different tunes" that's a reference to founder member Syd when he started showing signs of a breakdown and would play something totally different to the rest of the band during live gigs, hence why David Gilmour was brought in to sorta try cover n support Syd.

in one of the doc posted Nick mason says at one time Syd just stood detuned his guitar, stared blankly at the audience and started strumming it making some crazy sound and the band were like wtf! but apparently the audience though it was great!

was it though?

there's so much stuff there on so many level's (even in the documentary's) it's up to the listener to take it as deeply as the want , look for the messages or just enjoy some timeless music.

Thank's for starting the thread Space Bandit

;)

Roger Waters - The Wall Live 2011/12 - Part 1- (Full Concert)

Roger Waters - The Wall Live 2011/12 - Part 2 - (Full Concert)

Just got around to watching this..... FUCKING WOW!

I'm gutted I missed this tour.... too expensive. :( I had planned to beg borrow or steal to get in, but in the end just tried to put it out of my mind.
A couple of mild criticisms... the sound is a bit weak at the beginning of each half... I'm sure the engineer is having a right struggle with the sheer scope of it, and I'm not surprised, but it quickly gets sorted.
& Gilmour's vocal parts aren't covered convincingly enough by fake Peter Beardsley.
For the most part though, it's fucking awesome. It's really powerful, really intense, really surreal.... & poignant,
and pretty fucking depressing - but contrastingly real...(although around half of it is based on Pink's fantasy, even that is based upon truth & real history.)

The visual effects on some parts of the actual wall are unbelievable.... especially towards the end of the first half where it looks like the wall is vanishing & flying away, and during Comfortably Numb where Water's destroys it in Pink's vision of death & it becomes really colourful.
Run Like Hell which isn't one of my favourite tunes (sorry Runlikehell!) sounds & looks absolutely fantastic & conveys some really emotive imagery. The way the film footage has been interspersed with new footage & even old Pink Floyd footage throughout is absolutely meticulous.

I've been waiting for a decent enough copy of the gigs to arrive rather than watching bits & bobs here & there on shite quality & this totally delivered the goods... so cheers very much for posting. 2 hours well spent on a Friday night! :)

The footage used in this video comes from: 'Which One is Pink?' - BBC, 2007, 'Syd Barrett's First Acid Trip' - Directed By Nigel Gordon, 1965...

The Final Cut was originally planned as a soundtrack album for the band's 1982 film Pink Floyd—The Wall. With the onset of the Falklands War, Waters changed it to be a critique of war, and also what he considered the betrayal of his father...

Phil Manzanera worked with & toured with David Gilmour in the On An IsIand Album/Tour

Phil Manzanera initerview on Roxy Music

The questions flowed with good-natured bonhomie, covering everything from another potential Roxy reunion (“Our work there is done”); Phil’s trademark bug glasses (“Jarvis Cocker borrowed them once”); and what was next on the to-do list
There’s going to be a new David Gilmour album at some point.” (You heard it here first, folks!)

www.high50.com/culture/roxy-music-come-to-chiswick

The boled part is all that's out there information wise at the mo folk's, there's been no offical statment from Mr Gilmour's side yet, but it look's like it's gonna happen, as far as a tour go's, we can only hope ;)

I saw his last tour in Manchester & it was awesome.
I'm not so keen on his album though... some good bits but a bit twee.

I liked the stuff he did with The Orb though...
