Am I reading that right? It's a stand alone browser from Tor?

I remember trying to use Tor a couple of years back and it did my melon in after 5 mins. I know, impatient but when you know there are click of a button ip proxies why bother?

Anyway, if it's a Tor browser I can think of one immediate use for it :chuckle:

Agreed.

I actually don't use it because its slow and inefficient. I would go so far as to say useless for stuff like torrents etc.

There are ways to remain secure, however I'm not willing to discuss them, not even in a pm sorry :)

Subtle hint...vpn.

I installed Tor on my last laptop, forums wouldn't let me join because of it, couldn't uninstall it and had to wait 12 months for it to uninstall itself.

You haven't, tor is great for what its intended to do.
Its just that there's a lot of myths surrounding what actually provides viable anonymity. If you really want it then you'll have to pay for a private vpn and one thats reasonably close by for it to have half a chance of being usable for high bandwidth and low latency etc.
Some businesses also rent out vm's for short term which are wiped with re-image after each use.
(If you hunt around you might find some of these demo vm's for free! You could certainly browse the net with one and your IP would show as where the vm is hosted, they're usually limited to a few minutes though)

Even then, if you're daft enough to give out personal info as did Michael Dell's own daughter (that tickled me pink btw lol!) then all of the precautions are wasted.
Real privacy is damn difficult to get. I suppose if you don't want to spend any money then tor helps along with a lot of common sense, its the human being that is the security hole :D

Got any good hidden web sites besides the usual; hidden wiki, silk road etc?
