This is accelerating now.
Gaikai is the other 'onlive' type service I mentioned in the other thread.

There are definite plans in place to go 100% cloud and on any device and have everything subscription based.
The broadband isn't really in place to support this as yet, even where its in place theres limits on bandwidth (don't we all love those false advertising slogans about 'unlimited broadband' eh?)

Once the broadband is sorted though this will take off, so expect some moves from BT etc very soon. Fibre to the street is on the way now.

I, for one, shall be keeping nothing in any clouds (though strictly speaking, I don't even really know what that means).

I may well be cut off from the rest of the world, sat here with my old rotary dial phone, but so be it. Long as I have the facility to get online and hassle good folks like you lot, it's all good.

And even if I don't, I'll just go back to annoying people in pubs.

There is quite a few discussions about all of this and many do not fancy the idea of playing games on tablets, I am still waiting for fibre to come to my exchange,

The fibre to the street will happen, as will the spare airwave frequency sell off etc.
Its just a matter of perception. Broadband always seem to take ages to be rolled out and when we do get it, we take it for granted within weeks of using it.
