www.telegraph.co.uk/technology/mobile-ph...obile-broadband.html

Of course, this is just going to be city areas first, the article states that total coverage is expected some time around 2015.
Total 100Mbit broadband coverage will enable for ubiquitous computing end client devices.
I would expect to see home cloud devices appearing around 2013/2014 in mass production with cheap prices (they're already prototyped now and on display in places like S.Korea).

Fridges, cookers, worktops, tables, tv's all will be cloud connected devices with touchscreen tech and even gesture tech.

This might well be out of place but I visited a 'gourmet' dentist recently. They just didn't give me sunglasses to prevent my eyes from the offense of the examination light - they took my blood pressure wirelessly. I'm not lying.

The lady put a velcro band on my WRIST, typed something into the computer and the damn thing compressed!

She used a device the size and thickness of a small sticky note pad with rounded corned to take multiple X-rays that presented immediately on a computer screen!

There was low volume, middle of the road, enjoyable by all, music on the overhead!

They offered me the choice of amalgams - they say there is far less mercury in them these days, or composite fillings.

I opted composites even though they don't last 20 years (amalgams last longer).

They took a face X-ray without placing me in a big, empty room with rods in my ears holding my head still. I didn't like that - couldn't hear or move.

The damn, new fangled machine adjusted to me by itself: Height- lean forward, backward, up, down. Didn't like that; prefer human adjustments.

Anyway, the bottom line is they want to sell me crowns or bridges and root canals!

Just clean my teeth and fill the cavities. All that dental work fails by mid-50's and thousands of dollars are down the drain while you eat mushy meat and vegetables as I've seen in many folks.

It's shit to see all this stuff happening. Who on earth would want to log into their television with their face? Probably lots of people in time. I saw this advert the other day:

Yay, smart meters are great fun. They're just like a little iPad. We're only putting them in to help you out.

Yeah, you'll get bills direct to your iphone/ipad/pc automated along with automated bank withdrawals all cashless.

Yep, a routine dental visit freaked me out.

I half expected Dr. McCoy to walk out.

The even took a picture of my face with a..........toothbrush-like device with many, tiny lights upon it. I guess it's in case I try to skip out on the bill.

Speaking of smart meters:

My co worker said her neighbors moved out and had a lot of trash at the curb.

She moved her trash to the other side of the drive so her trash would not be confused with her neighbors'.

She got her usual, monthly refuse bill with an additional $20 tacked on! She called right away.

The contractor said they would review the pickup image - no joke!

They asked my co worker questions about the property and such, she answered truthfully and said her trash was confused with the neighbors' who just moved out and should not have been charged an extra 20 bucks for excessive refuse.

The pick up photo confirmed my co worker's claim and she's got a $20 credit on her account.

Is it me, or is this whole thing gone too far?

Sure, I recall accounting things daily and noting a penny lost here or there and complaining that pennies added to dollars but for god's sakes, I'm sorry.

I never imagined camera garbage pick up or drone property tax compliance.

IF YOU DON'T THINK DRONES HAVE NOT BEEN FLYING AROUND USA TO INSURE PROPERTY POLICY ENFORCEMENT, THINK AGAIN.

Sorry, fellow Americans, it's BEEN going on for over a decade. First heard of it on the late 90's as my mother saw them fly over on base as she hiked.

She said that flying robots were checking her out. :bla:

Yeeaahh......flying robots.

I fretted that Mom had not so early (she is bloody nuts) Alzheimer's and had to quickly figure out what the hell to do with her.

Alas, now we all know about those flying robots, don't we?

Just to complete the picture, this is what they've got all the way around the advertising hoardings at Old Trafford today:
