‘Scrap­ers’ though? What fresh hor­ror is this?

:)........Scrapers and email harvesters are automated bots that crawl your website looking for content and email addresses respectively. Additionally there are human user profile spammers that will cause load on the server trying to register to get backlinks.

All this can cause load on your server, slowing it down and eventually disconnecting mysql.

It could also just be the sites getting popular
