So now rather than engage with the question you want me to trawl the forum compiling a list of times you've stated your thoughts on this place being led by the community etc.

Please forgive me if I don't oblige.
Nope, I was looking for you to back up your statement.
but hey, it seems that's not to be. :dunno:

I'm all for the community defining it's own shape and colour.
If I don't find it comfortable, I move on.

I attempt to be my own moderator, I find that tends to take the weight off others.
It's one of the reasons I've been quieter lately. :)

My hangover is causing the screen to pulsate, so please be patient if my response seems less than coherent. (Or even less than incoherent, as I initially typed :conf: ).

I've already let rip about some things I've seen going on recently that I was unhappy about, so (unless there's any recurrence :toetap: ) that's it, out of my system, and I'm happy to let bygones be bygones & start afresh.

I'm personally guilty of personality flaw whereby if somebody really pisses me off once (which invariably boils down to attitudes, not opinions) it can negatively influence my interpretation of every single thing they ever say from that point on. So that's something I'm trying to address.

I've never made any secret of my view that if it's generally agreed that someone's here just to mess up the atmosphere & make a pest of themselves, they should be booted out, for the benefit of the whole forum. Too many excellent members have been lost because of inaction, imo.

I personally am not so much against the emotional, "Oh, fuck off", type outburst that some of us are occasionally guilty of :emb: . It's the attempts at ridicule and diversion that I hate. Not diversion as in a conversation naturally progressing to an entirely different topic, as frequently happens :D - but the strategy I've seen employed, of leading off at unlikely tangents to evade relevant points.

I also wish to express my gratitude for Frog's hard work in creating this forum - and obviously that of Nov & DG too. :)

Psketti - you're doing great, so if you're not comfortable, it doesn't show!!!

And Oi, I'll only be your wife for the year if you practice your massages on me. :hypo:

For them that can't read between the lines of humour, here's an example.
RA's sceptre shite. Pointless? Abso frickin lootely. People rationally and calmly refuted his pointless bollox and asked him to stop numerous times. He still does it to this day and does his best to have digs every chance he can create.

I am asking, in a situation like that what do we do?
A three strikes and yer out policy?

Bear in mind as I mentioned earlier, Sod was banned on a one strike principle.
Then there were them clowns that arrived and trolled then got lairy in chat. Banned instantly.

This is a clear the air thread, not a discussion of moderation.

Consider this yer first point motherfucker!

If I'm mistaken and have misread many of your posts which gave me the impression that you find all such debate boring etc etc then I apologise. Perhaps my reading comprehension skills need brushing up on :dunno:

That said, if that's so and you are actually interested in us sorting out how we deal with the sort of thing Gilly mentioned in her excellent post just now.....how do you yourself think we should deal with it? Which is what I was asking in the first place.

It's great that you self moderate  Anyone who does won't fall into the area of this debate. The question is about those that refuse to respect that idea and continue to be very obviously disruptive annoying so and so's in the face of all requests to do as you do.

Nice attempt at a tactic there bud.
Gonna have to ask you for citations again ta. I know, what a bother eh?

1st off, the community decided it wanted mods and then appointed them.
The rules are there to guide them, let them get on with it.

2nd item. determining what is disruptive and annoying on a messageboard is a very subjective call.
I guess if enough people complain and mods issue a warning/request to desist and the poster persists or refuses then that poster is clearly on the wrong site.

As to the number of infringements allowed or tolerated before decisive action I find that an eroneous measurement.
The infringement itself will usually determine the gravity of the response.

There are people here I really pick up good vibes from above some others.

Psketti,Gilly, Batou, Noseymutergirl,Diamondgeezer Nightguant, RA And Mr Wolf last but not least
I really got good vibes from the fellow that left can't think of his name right now he was a mod.

But there is nobody I dislike and I mean that

That's a really honest and emotionally literate reflection and I admire you for it. And I don't think it's your personality flaw so much as something a lot of us do to a greater or lesser degree.

I think one of the things with this forum is on a big forum like the DIF people can generally avoid people they're not getting on with - over there there could be staunch regulars you'd hardly ever bump into because they hung round a different section. People could choose to take each other on or people might follow people round (in which case that's a mods issue) but here you're going to keep bumping into the same people regardless because there aren't that many and the action is concentrated mainly in news and general.

I think Dub illustrated a good option of choosing to focus on another section - lots of the sections are getting a bit neglected and if there was more of a spread in active posting in the different sections, it could give people a breathing space from one another if need be. Otherwise I think it could/can get like the big brother house where if someone is getting on your nerves you're still kind of trapped with them if you want to carry on posting.

@ feather. Top tip. Don't hold your breath...

Further requests.
Please warn gue about some of his obtuse and empathy lacking posts.
Please warn andy about some of the ways he talks to I-b
Please warn me for using terms like "vile little troll cunt"
Please warn rick for his data mining
Please warn sket for some of her usage of similar words to what I need warning for.
Please warn Oi for the same.
This could take a while...
Oh fuck it, can't be arsed, why don't we all do summat along the lines of what wub suggested and actually start being a respectful community rather than what we've seen of late?

SZ clean slate...I rmember summat about that. Perhaps this is a good time to wipe it and act like we know we really should :dunno:
