Police searching for the missing schoolgirl Tia Sharp have found a body in her grandmother's south London home.

The Metropolitan Police said the body was found following a search of the property in New Addington, Croydon, earlier.

The 12-year-old has been missing since last Friday.

Police are seeking Stuart Hazel, 37, the partner of Tia's grandmother Christine Sharp, and have asked people not to approach him.

Members of the public have been asked to call 999 if they see Mr Hazel.

No arrests have been made.

The body is yet to be identified but Tia's family has been informed.

The majority of this type of crime is carried out by someone the victim knows.
Usually a relative/in law.

Yes, I think that's true for rape/murder/paedophillia.

The partner of Tia Sharp's grandmother has been arrested on suspicion of murdering the 12-year-old, the Metropolitan Police said.

Police were searching for Stuart Hazell, 37, after a body was discovered earlier at Christine Sharp's house in New Addington, Croydon.

Tia, 12, went missing from the house last Friday.

Mr Hazell was arrested in Merton, south London, at 20:25 BST after he was identified by a member of the public.

If he turns out to be the killer the gran is partly to blame also.
What a bad choice bringing a convicted crack dealer into contact with her relatives.

I'd like to know how he's managed to stash the body at the house without anyone realising...
surely it would have started to smell?

I wonder if the third person arrested, was hiding the body in a loft next to, or very close to the grandmothers house?

The Daily Fail are reporting that detectives are investigating that possibility....

All very weird. Especially if they were all involved.

Just read the article...yes, very weird. If a neighbour would help someone to hide the body of a young girl...you really have to wonder what the hell was going on before she was murdered? You don't just ask a neighbour to help you conceal a body????

Maybe this person isn't involved...time will tell.

Poor little girl :(
Who knows what sort of a family this is and what they could have done to her
I had a feeling right from the beginning that the step 'grandad' had done something to her and that grandmother gave me an off feeling. She shacked up with her daughter's ex-boyfriend for goodness sake :sadno: Jeremy Kyle hasn't got a look in.
