Tbh I don't think the petition goes far enough - Not only should he have to spend a year on benefit level subsistence but each month he should be made to replicate the actual lives of the most vulnerable people he is taking money away from. One month perhaps he could live as an isolated pensioner, the next the parent of a disabled child. Another month as a jobseeker struggling to do everything the jobcentre expects without any extra help with travel costs and clothing. Then perhaps he could also attend one of those oh so excellent 'training' things where you learn how to write a cv no matter how computer literate etc you are or what job you had before falling on hard times. And lets not forget to make him live through 'sanctions' or a atos interview. perhaps one month could be spent living with the effects of a disability - fibromyalgia could be replicated through the liberal use of a cattle prod!!. A month in a wheelchair searching for employment whilst living in a non adapted flat would be an eye opener as well. Oh and he could perhaps participate in the 'workfare' programme as well. See how he feels about free labour for large profit making corporations when it is coming out of his pocket.

Merely living on the money is not enough imho he has to actually 'live' the life of someone placed in shitty housing with no hope, no heating and no choices.
Sometimes, if you stand on the bottom rail of a bridge and lean over to watch the river slipping slowly away beneath you, you will suddenly know everything there is to be known.
