I don't know....maybe my 'conspiracy' radar is working over time....
Italian police have seized a record (EURO)1.3 billion ($1.7 billion) in cash and property from a single person, a Sicilian alternative energy entrepreneur alleged to have close ties to the Mafia.
Italy's anti-Mafia investigators said in a statement Wednesday that Vito Nicastri, a 57-year-old native of Alcamo, near Trapani, was placed under surveillance and must remain in Alcamo for three years. He is accused of declaring for tax purposes a fraction of the value of his businesses.
Italian media have dubbed Nicastri the "king of alternative energy" for his vast holdings in wind farms and photovoltaic cell companies.
Police said the seizures include 43 companies; 98 pieces of real estate including buildings, homes, stores and land; 66 bank accounts, credit cards and investment funds

Hmmmm....alternative entrepreneur...hmmm...doesn't Italy import all its electricity? Hmmmm...so they have 'seized' all his assets...anybody care to explain to me what happens to these assets. You see, to me, it's a bit like that electricity company in this country that got fined a whopping 10 million I think it was for overcharging its customers...what happens to that 'fine'....do the customers get re-imbursed...not on your nelly!
I have gone beyond all this mafioso, oligarchs and other 'labels...to me it's rather like the pot calling the kettle black now....they are all as corrupt as each other. Having said that, and putting asside that this man is 'alleged' to have mafia connections....there is something fishy to this 'sequestration' in my view.
