You're absolutely right about this being an ideological goal. The economic situation is such that there are two simple paths which can be traversed. You either do something that's going to fuck over the wealthy and the elite interests and seriously change the whole economic culture, or fuck over everyone else. There are no other choices at this point, one of those two things is a mathematical certainty.
