Oddly they are the first to do the following:

1) scream about liberal bias in the media, on a site, in education, in their plumbing, breakfast cereal etc
2) complain that they are being silenced when they're only being disagreed with
3) claim that RW/LW paradigm is an illusion and then quote from World Net Daily/ Daily Mail advocating a return to debtor's prison

the whole 'rights' thing never fails to amuse me.

We don't have any rights - what we have is a 'bucket list' of all the things we think we should be entitled to - and these things differ from person to person and from need to need and want to want. Rights appear often to be just expectations - some of which are perfectly reasonable such as the right to not be tortured or access to the basics - The thing about 'rights' is ether everyone has them or no one has them - which people tend to often conveniently forget when it suits.

We also have a ridiculous number for whom rights appear to come without responsibilities.

It all comes down to whether one believes in the ethical concept of Reciprocity.

As a communist you encounter a lot of these people, generally you find they are superficial people holding superficial opinions they have inherited from somebody who spoke with authority.

People suck... I've met many like what the OP describes and the most I can muster is a blank stare at them when they open their mouth.
I know someone who loves getting government help for everything, then turns around and sells their help (foodstamps and the likes) so they can afford drugs while their kids go hungry. Hates how the government works, and openly bitches about how it works and could work better because it makes his life hard. But if you start pointing out how the government works, beyond handouts, he turns around and all of a sudden can't say enough good things about the government and condemn you for not agreeing with how the government works. I can't even describe the person, their opinion changes every 5 seconds and it seems they can't make up their mind on whether they want help or not. And the biggest thing with them is, they seem to think they should be the only one getting any kind of help from anyone anywhere.
