Well I bloody never.....do you know any of your family ancestry prior to 1811/1812 by any chance? Bit of an ask I appreciate...just curious, and I don't mean to pry.[/quote]
My Great ,G,G,G, G Granfather family still has a vinyard in southern Germany in the Moselle river valley...{the Catholic church gave them the vinyard circa 1200 AD....My Grandfather X6 was Mathias..
He was a fellow student & friend of Karl Marx at Trier,Germany...Mathias was a math wizard & Marx was into literature....Marx was REAL obnoxious & his parents owned several vinyards...
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Karl_Marx
Which is how Marx & Mathias got to know each other....Anyway..sometime circa 1832 Mathias & some other students were at a professors house playing cards when Marx came through the front door and announced that the great German writer/.philopher,genius Johann Wolfgang von Goethe had died .....Then Marx & the professor went into another room and spent the next 2 hours discussing the ramifications of the death of Goethe....While Mathias continued playing cards with the other students.....
Mathias later went to the same unversity as Marx but stopped hanging out with him because he didn't agree with his politics......
Mathias went to work in a bank AKA counting house...then studied for the priesthood.....the night before he was going to be ordained he skipped town ,went to Hamburg and sailed for America....got married and had 12 children......He followed Marx's carreer in the newspapers but claimed that Marx was a asshole...{sort of like Miky Miky.IMHO}
