So, what, a family just lives in a tree until they see a property they feel is reasonably priced?

You are so full of shit!!

You live within your means :)
I manage to do it, so why not everyone else?

Who's full of shit? The guy who whines about banks but then 'has' to use banks or the one who actually puts his money where it belongs?

There's plenty of affordable rents out there if you go looking for them, along with the jobs for them too.

People want it on a silver platter though and where they want it too and they also want it all to last perfectly for 25 yrs ofc lol :)

So until everyone becomes as judgemental and perfect as you, and manages to find these cheap rentals and jobs, do they live in trees ?

Before we drag ourselves up from the cave floor to try and emulate your wonderfulness, do we live in trees??

Very nice, I'm sorely tempted myself actually, :) . However, are these bargains profligerate? No, unfortunately a 1 bed-flat in most shit-holes will cost more than that. So your arguement is the usual arrogant "look at me", are you Eidelwiess Pirate?

Yes I know a 1 bed flat in most shitholes cost more than that.

Thats why I left the shithole! :D

I got pissed off and did something about it instead of putting up with it. One less slave consumer to maintain their stupid system.
Yeah sure it takes efforts and balls but who dares wins so to speak. It helps if you get pissed off quicker ofc, something I can bless having a wife and 4 kids for, it kinda helped with the getting pissed off faster :p

Oh come on we are all still slaves, you have taxes and utilitybills to pay, maybe less than most but you are still in the system andy.
But, you have taken on a bigger shift than most would do more than talk about, so fair play to you fellah.

We're definitely still slaves and yes I'm still definitely a part of the system but with reduced participation. I've never claimed otherwise.

I'm just saying that there are options and they are there, if you get pissed off enough :)
And you may yet btw, no-one knows the future as yet. The possibility IS there it DOES exist as per the website link above you can find houses at decent rents, even large ones.
They are not easy to find (I knew already where to look obviously), I only came to find out when I actually HAD to do it for real.

If you lose your job in the EU theres rent allowance to be had as part of the benefits system if you've contributed for a year or so.
If you play your cards right, even if things go sour then you'll never be short of a decent roof over your head.
If you're a single lad then you might not even be bothered about having a nice pad...perhaps a mobile home?

Then theres the 'skills' thing App talked about, be it a mechanic who can fix his own mobile home or perhaps someone who researched what jobs are in demand where its cheap to live and what qualifications are needed and how to go about getting them and if its feasible etc.

Research and planning is key, multiple scenarios and list the pro's and cons. Then make an informed decision and act on it.

I sure as hell wouldn't stay in that shithole any longer (I mean the UK for those who don't know lol)

Is that built on the site of a haunted disused nuclear plant which was closed down because of methane gas explosion potential or something!!?

Same as anywhere in Ireland, great if you can do some jobs, terrible if you can't.
Thats no different to a lot of places though let alone Ireland.

Most in demand here is healthcare and IT. Donegal itself is primarily a touristy area but thats a bit of a joke too imho.

Dublin is the best for jobs, next up Cork. Theres the odd few decent jobs pop up here and there around Waterford/Wexford,Limerick and Galway.

I used to drive 60 miles in to work each day and 60 miles back from west cork but moved to near the airport. Sorted now.

Nah it was more a general point tbh, I did read your link, i found it pretty amazing how cheap the houses still are there, I must say I'm tempted to up sticks most are the same price rent as my council house.
What's CO Donegal like, it seemed to have the cheapest houses?
