Beef Shin Bone makes a great broth/soup. I couldn't find a decent Belfast recipe as an example.

A friend was doing bone broths and was advised to stop because bones are storage/concentration points for heavy metals. Cows especially are huge, and eat huge volumes of grass and so a mature cow apparently has tons of heavy metals and other crap that fell out the sky stored in its bones. So its like eating a concentrated toxic dump.

domathy, u are really good at bringing threads down... tell that to the people in the starving countries, or those after the wall street crash when the people turned into tramps and put train grease in their bellies just to fill them up a bit... people have to live somehow .. especially if they are starving, and u did this on the other forum, scaring people, yikes - dont eat this or that.- the whole world cant live on your diet, my dear chap,...

People have lived on cows milk, cows meat/bones, broth, for years. Edgar Cayce said broth is very good for you, etc... Not having a rant here, just - please be nice and not tell us we are eating toxic dump... cos that is just trying to bring us down.

anyways, nice to see dom here, cheers for dom !  :hi: :sokay: :worship: :sheeps: :sheeps: I couldnt find a cow, so the sheep are lamb chops , lol

btw, i had broccoli and cauliflower for tea in cheese sauce, yikes, i hope i did not harm a cheese or any cheesies, in that :dunno:

Sure, some tribes in africa have peeps that drink 9 litres of milk per day and theyre fit with zero heart disease. Same all over the planet and yes its about balance. the metals thing is obviously a modern probem, and i guess radioactive fallout doesnt help.
If i was flat broke, id eat anything, and i was broke most of my life so i know how hard it is to afford good food. but, there is a difference between being in a genuinely hopeless situation (ie countries under the jackboot of 3rd world debt) and people who use 'no money' as an excuse. I lived in my car in a natonal park, just so i could afford the best possible food, as I identified that as a top priority, but thats just an example. The same people who say they got no money, I see them drinking booze and eating chocolates. Again, if i were even living on benefits, i would buy wholesale staple items and not waste on junk food and stuff thats not necessary.
About the broth, my post really was aimed at people with health probs (like a person I know whos started on the broths to help a serious condition) who may be thinking about using broth to recover their health. If so its always best to hear all sides of the debates. these paleo guys will just spout the benefits, but not mention the potential risks involved. Its always best to be informed, then make the best decision you can. Facts are just facts, not meant to be depressing. :)

What research is there to prove bones are full of toxic waste? What do you consider healthy food dom? Do you consider butter, raemilk, cream, etc to be unhealthy? Is all meat unhealthy? should we be vegan or vegetarian? :)

Actually i don't have any research, as my post was just about what my friend was told when she visited a clinic in London. I know metals are stored in human bones so I dont suppose its any different for cows etc, but ill do a google search anyway and see what i can find.
I know people can be very healthy on animal products ie there are tribes in africa who drink like 9 litres of raw milk per day and have zero cancer, zero heart disease, but heath is more than an absence of symptoms. My feeling is that its only possible to achieve peak health and fitness on a raw vegan diet, but thats a whole other discussion (as there are so many measures of health). I was using raw goats milk and kefir recently, but found that wasnt right for me personally. Now I am 100% raw vegan and eat about 20 banans a day plus lots of other fruit and also aim for a pound of greens and I have to say I have never experienced such good health before.

Should everyone be vegan? I suppose it depends. At the moment we cannot sustain feeding 7 billion people on animal protien. the planet is getting trashed as a result and it requires industrial scale slaughter of animals. If you look at the 'where do you get your protein from' video you may not find my claim that 'meat is a recreational food' to be too rediculous. And as such I just dont feel the consequences of such a recreational activity to be worth it (diesease, pollution, deforestation, water wastage not to mention the spiritual consequences of butchering millions of tortured animals per day). At very least, everyone should be vegan unless the meat has come from small scale farm which works with the natural laws and/or until commercial slaughterhouses have been wiped off the face of the planet. I also think that anyone who isnt disgusted and outraged about the treatment of animals in these places, simply do not deserve to eat even the best quality meat from well treated animals. Most cultures who Weston Price studied certainly were not eating huge amounts of meat and often the staple would be starches with some small amount of meat on the side. Even then he was looking for an absence of disease (and tooth decay) and was not measuring for peak states of health and fitness (again, I believe you can only tick every single box if on a raw vegan diet). So yes, people can cure themselves of diseases by following a paleo diet, but that may just mean it is (much more) healthy relative to the junk food they were eating before. Youre questions deserve a thread of their own really as there is so much to discuss :)

Yes clay really does work. People and animals eat clay because it mops up anything bad in the gut ie elephants eat it to get rid of acids from unripe fruit and so on. But it pulls out heavy metals too. This site is a brilliant resource:
www.eytonsearth.org/
I saw a dentist who commented how unbelievable my oral health was and said that obviously i was religiously cleaning my teeth with flouride paste. He went quiet when i said i dont brush my teeth very often and then only ever use clay to brush with :D
Plus its great on any swelling or injury. I had very bad swelling on a knuckle which was about size of a cadburys mini egg so immediately put on a clay pack and elevated for 1 hour. took the pack off and was no swelling. Also a friend dropped a fresh boiled kettle of water over her totally bare leg (drunk in hotel) and so should have had serious burns, but again, after 15 min under cold water and 1 hour of clay, the skin was white with no sign of burn (when previously it was red, swollen and changing colour for the worse) I got loads more clay stories too. Its the one thing I keep a big supply of in case of end of the world scenario. People in Hati eat it to keep hunger at bay and the minerals nourish them too, so its good famine food. I get mine in bulk from here: www.redmondclay.com/ shipping is about £100 so its worth buying a fair amount, say 3 x 6lb buckets - total about £200 inc shipping. But that will last as it goes such a long way. Ive been eating/drinking clay for years and it was instrumental in healing my gut and also removing crap from mercury fillings and vaccines. So yeah, its top stuff  Maybe a thread is a good idea, and people could set up some kind of clay cooperative to spread the cost around for people who only want a couple of lb's.

I am in love with traditional Vietnamese Pho Bo soup and have been making my own. The dish is famous for its smooth and clear, flavourful broth which results from hours of boiling beef bones along with a variety of spices such as cardamon seed, cloves, star anise, cinnamon stick and fennel seed. Its one of the best broths I have ever had and the dish is very light. Millions of Vietnamese eat this soup for breakfast :P

Can you please start a Mountain's Recipes thread or something? :yup:

I love Pho soup! My heart was recently broken when a Vietnamese cafe closed- they had amazing Pho noodles! They would bring a plate with bamboo shoots, basil(I think it was basil  ), a plum sauce and a super spicy sauce so you could add whatever you wanted. So yummy! :)

LOL aw, I will definitely consider it, K-Bone!. I find it easier and less costly to cook up my fav dishes myself instead of paying other to do it. Still learning though, I haven't attempted to cook all the foods I really enjoy yet.

There are a few restaurants in my area that I love that serve Pho and they usually serve with plate of bean sprouts, mint and basil leaves, lime wedges and the sauces you mentioned. The noodles are usually very long and silky smooth, perfect with the broth. I always get up and leave feeling energised after eating a bowl.
