Last Thursday I awoke from a nap with a dull ache of the coccyx, this has steadily intensified and as of last night I relented and took painkillers. A quick search suggests coccyx pain is usually due to a fall or pregnancy, I did neither of these things immediately prior to the problem arising. I can sit or stand quite comfortably but going from one position to the other is becoming more and more agonising.

Any advice?

You'll really need to get someone who knows what they're doing to examine you, I'd go to see a good physio.
You could go get some magical healing over at the DIFOR either.......

It may not be the coccyx. Could be a nerve thing or ligaments?
A period of stretching and rotations may help but as rep said it may be wise to get it checked out rather than go with owt we have to say...
I broke my coccyx once btw. I don't recommend it.

Nope, not this time. I suspect it may be psychosomatic though as I am used to suffering sciatica and muscular problems but this was at the very centre and base of the spine and also coincided with some 'news' the day before which pretty much 'shook my foundations', next day pain in the base of the spine. Anyway, apart from 2 days last week I've been able to ride it out without painkillers.

You can't reason someone out of a position they didn't reason themselves into.
