Heard a good thing on the radio on the way home tonight.

A Lancashire farmer had a surplus of around 40,000 cauliflowers. He said the extra sun shine we've been having lately has caused them to grow bigger than the super-markets buy in, plus people don't have a propensity to buy such veg in the warm weather. Under normal circumstances, he'd plough them back into the ground and crack on with the next task in hand.

But an MD of a company that I can't recall the name of (tried looking it up but nowt on the net) called to say he wanted some cheap caulies. So the farmer told him he could have 40,000 for free if he could be bothered coming & cutting them out of the ground. So t'MD sent a team of employees out to get them.

They're passing them on to any local charity who wants them, and the remainder will be sold, and the profits from that will be given to local charities.

How good is that!
