I'm having a stressful day so far.
Just about to set off for work, when the gobbin son comes dashing in, having realised on arriving at the bus stop that he hadn't got his pass. Turned the house upside down - no pass to be found.
So I called work & said I wouldn't be in due to having a migraine (which is true, though I was going to go anyway, and it's affecting my vision more dramatically than ever - it looks like little sperm swimming in a wiggly way towards each pupil). If you take the day off sick, they're OK with that, but if you say you're going to be late due to some personal situation, such as having to drive son to school, they kick off & make a 5 act drama out of it!
So leaving my drive, I came nose to nose with a bin lorry as it spun round the corner, blocking the cul-de-sac, & had to reverse back into my drive. Realised I'd forgotten to put the 3 recycling bins out, and no room to drag them down the path with my car there, so had to lift them above the car & pass them to the lad to get them out, covering us both with dirty rain water in the process.
Only noticed a zebra crossing at the last minute & had to break sharply, but achieved this with 3 feet to spare - was only crawling to start with. There was an old git waiting to cross on the far pavement, who started shouting abuse, even though I was nowhere near him. Shouted some back, and a policeman appeared at the side of me, shouting that we'd no need to be shouting. So I shouted a query as to why, as it was unnecessary, he was joining in, then drove off, leaving him shouting.
Got out of the car in front of the school to explain to my boy where I'd collect him, and a bird crapped down my shoulder.
Got the number to call the local council re a replacement bus pass off the net - was on hold for at least 10 minutes before being provided with a different number because that was the wrong one. And that pisses me off, because like a lot of corporations, they have an outgoing recorded message telling you there's going to be a long wait because they're 'experiencing an unusually high volume of calls at the moment', which is a lie, coz whatever time of the any day you call, it's the same message. And it's £15 for a pass, which they'll get round to posting out 2nd class some time when they can be arsed!
