I think old B movies are better because they were made kind of seriously...I mean I don't think the film makers thought "this is a really crappy B movie". More like "yeah, this movie is a masterpiece, it'll scare the shit out of them" :cool: :chuckle:
I think these days, the modern B movies are more like nods to B movies, sort of self aware. I'm just guessing here :emb: I could be wrong :D

Real effects, models, blood and gore, etc. will always be better than computer generated stuff, always. CGI doesn't cut the mustard, never has, probably never will. We don't see films like The Evil Dead, or Dawn Of The Dead these days. I'd love to see a return to that old way of making films, especially horror.

I totally agree! Remember how awesome the original Alien was? They didn't need no stinking CGI!

Also, in new B-movies, the acting is still bad but it's not bad in a good, funny way...it's more of an annoying soap opera acting kinda way. I don't know if I'm even making sense...argh, I don't like change! :oldfart:

Yeah the original Alien was phenomenal, the set design, the Alien itself, the chest burster scene :O :hide: :D

I think James Cameron kicked off the CGI trend with The Abyss, or was it Terminator 2?... :think: was it even Cameron? :chuckle: I think I'll google the first film to use CGI :D

There is a place for it, but it's overused nowadays, even to do sort of run of the mill stuff they'll use CGI.

It was Labyrinth in '86! :O The flying digital owl. Terminator 2 was the first to use it extensively and use it well I think.

I never would have guessed Labyrinth! :O Terminator 2 kicked ass! And, totally, CGI has it's place, it's just too heavily relied upon. I hate it when I see CGI blood splatter...I, mean, really? I can make realistic looking blood in my kitchen! There is no excuse for such laziness! :mad:

There is one film I hate with a passion and that is Dr Zivago ......it is the worst film ever in the history of films.

I was taken to the cinema to watch it and it ended, well I thought it ended , but it was only an interval (where the ladies came round with torches and a tray of ice-cream) I then cried when I was told there was another half still to watch.

So if you heard a little girl sobbing all through Dr Zivago at the cinema that was me ( was only 8 I think in my defence)

Die Hard 4 (is that the one where he is all old n shit?) being a prime example. I quite enjoyed the other three, but that one just took the piss CGI-wise, imo.

I would have been happy to watch dear Brucie bathe for two and half hours. It's not clever, so pack it in. :coffee:
