G'day Gilly.

Maybe the 24 hour period/gap between your posts is the answer. :P :psketti:
You can't reason someone out of a position they didn't reason themselves into.

Am I not listening hard enough? Or aren't they knocking loud enough? If "angels" come to my door, the onus is surely on them to make sure I hear them :chuckle:

A complete absence of door-rapping, angelic entities reported in Scotland's capital city.
(Unless they were diverted by rapturing the fucking binman who never appeared yesterday!)

Meanwhile back over to Bob and Katy in the studio for the latest updates from around the nation and beyond.

not gonna say angels.knocked on my door but yesterday was indeed a day of what the hippies call centering for me.
dont laff but it started by listening to the album, take dis by credit to the nation. hadn't heard it in a while. listening took me back to 1993 with the bnp crawling all over the east end. i felt the emotions, frustrations and hopes of that time as if i'd hopped in the tardis...
after that i headed to the coast path and spent a few hours gazing out to a very active and timeless sea. fluid dynamics are very poignant as reminders... there were a couple of nice little signs, a rainbow and then a seal who popped up right in front of me.
days like that seem to help pull everything back into focus for me, grounds me so to speak. i got back to the van as a very different person to the one that had headed out...

often, we are looking for grand gestures. we expect literal angels to knock on our doors...in my experience, peaceful and patient observance of the subtle yet profound workings of nature do the trick every time :)

forgot to say that if there were a topic of yesterdays oceanic musing, it were this.
the moment...a vast amount of the crap we deal with in our inner and outer worlds is born of not being in the moment. we may be sat in a beautiful tea shop, safe and sound, worrying about a direct debit thats due in a few days or an event long since passed. we may be fighting a 'war' against a historical foe for no real reason other than summat that happened years ago.
when we work like that we are out of the moment and that causes problems. it makes us weak, divided and easy to play off against each other. when we live in the moment, knowing and acting, we are vital, we are one and we are strong.

That's the thing though dub, it's probably far easier to have those kinds of moments in the type of environment that you have described...in the city though, surrounded by concrete, row upon row of houses, gangs, police sirens, the hustle and bustle...far harder to observe the profound workings of nature I think.

harder perhaps irre but not impossible...

i will recant a tale.
back when i was busking around london i had to get an overland train one very misty morning. the platform the train left from was raised with a view east toward the city center. directly in front was an industrial park. most days the industrial park hogs your senses.
on this day, the thick mist blocked out the park from my sight. i remember becoming accutely aware of the native flora that had collonised the bank just beyond the train track. something i normally missed. i saw how despite the odds, nature had claimed this little unused bit of an industrial abomination. i saw how much beauty there was in each petal and leaf. i saw how they were timeless in the face of the shifting human landscape.......

do you see what i am saying? there aint nowhere on this fair earth where nature isnt there. its all about our awareness of it.

On the way to the shop the other day dub, I noticed on a patch of waste land, how there were loads of "weeds" pushing through the cracks in the pavement, etc. and kind of thought about the will and desire of nature, y'know, to keep on being and growing and all that. Like it always finds a way despite man building on it and fucking it up. It was heartening to think that if we depart this planet as a species, nature and the planet will recover very very quickly, if you know what I mean. The same thing will happen if we get our act together as a species.

when i used the word signs i meant those little profound events that show you, you're definitely in the right spacetime. that you are fully in the moment.
