Ratios are clearly not your strong point Andy.

The second amendment is the only amendment dealing with guns. It is the second amendment to the constitution. A seemingly sacred document that was changed.

But it's about more than just lack of common sense, isn't it! It's about conditioning.

Pennsylvania girl, 5, suspended for threatening to shoot girl with pink toy gun that blows soapy bubbles
By Edmund DeMarche
Published January 19, 2013

A 5-year-old Pennsylvania girl who told another girl she was going to shoot her with a pink Hello Kitty toy gun that blows soapy bubbles has been suspended from kindergarten.

Her family has hired an attorney to fight the punishment, which initially was 10 days for issuing a 'terroristic threat.' But her punishment was reduced to two days after her mother met with school officials and had the incident dropped to 'threatening to harm another student,' which apparently carries a lesser punishment.

"It's laughable," Robin Ficker, the girl's attorney told FoxNews.com. "This is a girl who had no idea about killing or what happened in Connecticut."

He was referring to the recent shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School that claimed 26 lives.

Ficker says Mount Carmel Area School District officials said the girl made the threat on Jan. 10 as she waited for a school bus with friends. A school official overheard the remark and searched the girl's backpack and did not find the Hello Kitty gun, he said.

The next day, the girls involved were 'interrogated' by school officials, Ficker said. By the time the girl was done speaking to administrators about the incident, she was crying, he said. A teacher called out the girl in front of her class and told her police may get involved.

Ficker called the girl "the least terroristic person in Pennsylvania."

"What parent that you know would want their 5-year-old questioned about making terroristic threats without them in the room?" Ficker asked.

School district solicitor Edward Greco tells pennlive.com officials are looking into the case. He said Friday school officials aren't at liberty to discuss disciplinary actions.

Ficker said he has scheduled a meeting with a lawyer from the school board later this month to have the girl’s record expunged.

Something must be done about these "terroristic" 5 year old kindergarten kids!

Adults putting 5 year old girls through the mill, interrogating them, etc. is terroristic.

The world is fucking nuts.

It's o.k. everybody. I think the five year old was fake and the parents were actors. I cracked the case. Just look at the source.

I got pulled once (by Michael Todd, a conspiracy name of olde in G.M.P.!) for imitating an Israeli soldier in German combat gear because I was holding a poundshop water pistol during a 'non-politically motivated' intervention by G.M.P. in a bit of street theatre (the week before we were fine with our 40ft replica tank!). My calls objecting to the display of military hardware the following weekend outside the G-Mex fell on deaf ears despite me doing as instructed and contacting him on his 'personal' number regarding any related incidents.

You might try looking on the internet some time - you'll find it's reported by several sources. ;)

The difference between your comments here and the Sandy Hook thing, since you seem to need the blatantly obvious pointed out to you, is that there's reams & reams of conflicting information been put out on Sandy Hook by the authorities, and it doesn't add up. So your attempt at sarcasm doesn't come across as clever - just typically unsubstantiated BS.

*Cue the, 'Poor, misunderstood, picked on me', nonsense.*

Well at least offer some rational explanation as to why you think it isn't - why you think various news sites are reporting it as a story, and naming the defence solicitor. Make sense, will you!?!

You were refuting it before, because it was Fox news, and now you're told it's been reported on by other news channels, you imply that any news channels are questionable if their reports appear on the internet. Pretty strange, since you've been trying to insist the MSM self-contradictory BS should be accepted, unquestioningly, as the truth!

Doctor probes teen on guns in the home
John Kass
January 23, 2013

In pro-gun-regulation Illinois — where politicians would rather play gun control politics than fight the murderous street gangs — a young man was admitted to the hospital.

Sam Insley, 16, of Oak Lawn, wasn't admitted with a gun problem.

Sam had a tonsil problem.

"It was an infected tonsil," Mary Rita Insley told me of her son Sam, a strapping, 6-foot-2-inch, 195-pound lacrosse player at St. Rita High School on the Southwest Side.

"Yes, he's a big kid, but regardless of his age and stature, my husband and I were with him the entire time he was there."

Sam was admitted to Advocate Hope Children's Hospital in Oak Lawn on Jan 4. A resident and two medical students began jotting down notes for a routine medical history. At one point, Mrs. Insley said, they asked her to step out of the room.

"I felt uneasy, but I stepped out so my son wouldn't be embarrassed," she told me, saying she figured they would ask drug and alcohol questions. Sam doesn't take drugs or alcohol, she said.

Later that day, Sam told her what the doctors had asked him.

"By the way, Mom," she recalled him saying, "when you were out of the room they asked me if we had any guns in the house."

Guns?

"Yes, it was none of their business," she said. "Where do they get off? I was furious.

"By the way, he answered 'no.' We don't have guns. But that's not the point. The point is that they use bureaucratic leverage to break down our privacy. And the last time I checked, I was an American."

Insley said she wasn't a gun rights crusader hoping to get her name in the paper. She said she was a mom who wanted to make sure other parents know what doctors are asking their children.

She said she would have understood a gun-related question if her son was being treated for mental or emotional issues. But he doesn't have those issues and has never been treated for them, she said.

"He wasn't there for psychiatric reasons," she said. "He wasn't suicidal. HE WAS THERE FOR AN INFECTED TONSIL!"

Insley knows I'm a hunter and that I have teenage sons of my own, and that I'm not a liberal journalist who hates on the Second Amendment.

I understand that the right to bear arms isn't a right granted us by the president, and that it's not only about hunting. It's about free Americans being able to resist a government that steps on their rights.

"Now, with all this gun control legislation (in Illinois), I'm angry for many reasons," she said. "Why are they asking about guns in the hospital? Are they mandated by Obamacare to do so? Can they ask a minor about guns without a parent in the room? I'm really upset."

Advocate spokesman Mike Maggio told us he couldn't discuss this case for privacy reasons, but that gun questions are "not part of our protocol. It is not routine in any way. And it's not a standard practice."

Later Tuesday, Insley said she received a telephone call from Dr. Mark Butterly, head of the hospital's pediatric residency program. She said Butterly told her that it is indeed standard practice.

www.chicagotribune.com/news/columnists/c...123,0,1990132.column

So one 'official' advises it is common practice to ask this question which has no relevance to the boy's hospital visit, and another advises it is not.

I find it sinister for children to be quizzed regarding something that bears no relevance to the visit, and that the parents were asked to leave the room while it was done.

Yet more utter fuck-wittery!

7-year-old playing an imaginary game at school gets suspended for real
Posted on: 8:51 pm, February 4, 2013, by David Mitchell and Julie Hayden, updated on: 09:55pm, February 4, 2013

LOVELAND, Colo. — A 2nd grader has been suspended from school in Loveland for a make believe game he was playing.
The 7-year-old says he was trying to save the world. But school administrators say he broke a key rule during his pretend play.
“I was trying to save people and I just can’t believe I got dispended,” says Alex Evans, who doesn’t understand his suspension any better than he can pronounce it.

“It’s called ‘rescue the world,’” he says.

He was playing a game during recess at Loveland’s Mary Blair Elementary School and threw an imaginary grenade into a box with pretend evil forces inside.

“I pretended the box, there’s something shaking in it, and I go ‘pshhh.’”

The boy didn’t throw anything real or make any threats against anyone. He explains he was pretending to be the hero. “So nothing can get out and destroy the world.”

But his imaginary play broke the school’s real rules. The school lists “absolutes” designed to keep a safe environment. The list includes absolutely no fighting, real or imaginary; no weapons, real or imaginary. Click here to see the Mary Blair “Absolutes”

“Honestly I don’t think the rule is very realistic for kids this age,” says Alex’s mom Mandie Watkins.

Alex is like a lot of 2nd graders, perpetual motion. His mom says the little boy doesn’t understand why pretending to be a soldier was wrong. “I think that when a child is trying to save the world, I don’t think he should be punished for it.”

At least one other parent FOX31 Denver talked to agrees with her.

“That’s just a boy growing up,” says Elliott Orozco. “That’s what I did and I didn’t become a bad guy.”
Nevertheless, Alex will be playing at home rather than in the school yard because his mom says he’ll stay home until this can be worked out

They're quite interesting stories, to be frank they made me wonder whether actually punishing children for enacting war and militarism is a good thing, the strict punishments will be useless though if they're handed out in isolation to children to young really to exercise discernment.

With popular culture, video games and literature so prevalent in which violence and conflict are glorified, in a culture where a Hero is determined by the body count of his victims, I can't help but feel adults are giving out mixed messages to their kids about acceptable behaviour, when after putting little Johnny to bed they probably watch a bit of Homeland, 24 or Mad Men and derive a certain amount of pleasure from vicariously participating in violence, it's kind of hollow to tell him off for emulating his parents idols.

I didn't sign the petition, that's hilarious, and crazy, out of 20k I'd say a large percentage would be more than happy if Obama dropped his armed security, jeez, I wonder how many Islamist groups have a bounty on his head :D a bad idea, also a bad idea to have armed guards patrolling schools.

You can't deny the threat international terrorism poses in these new political vacuums of the mid-east, entire states could fall to Islamic fundamentalism, anti-American/Israeli Jihad prolonging the war on terror possibly even jeopardizing western security, his policies have hemmed in Al Qaeda, and the Islamist insurgencies,, the drones are destroying the command structure and pockets of resistance, Islamist's have been unable to gain a strong foothold as of yet but there's still some obstacles to overcome, least of all the escalating Libyan and Syrian crises in combination with Civil unrest throughout the region, I think Obama's been pretty clear on these new theatres that he's not going to try and further US aims in the region as much as support and enable the UN's response to be effective, something the US hasn't often done.
