I know where you live Abs. It's near my cousins. Living in a city is good and has definite plus sides. It's more sociable and there's lots going on. You miss it when you don't have it.

Gilly, I'll post my nearest town. It's not very pretty, so I do'nt really have my own pics. It's an old grey, run-down mining town, I am a bit too scared to go to the pub there, because they are too local. (think Royston Vasey and League of Gentlemen. ) Here's stuff off interwewbs for Cinderford & mining. But will post my own tomorrow. You don't see the phlegm near the bus stops or by the Co-op car park, but it's definnitely there. Married counsins too.


This baptist chappel freaks me the fuck out. I can see it right over here in my living room and it gives me the willies and manages to do that from about 3 miles away - baptist mofo. Prpbably haunted. Wooo !

I always think of my home town, Chorley, when I see League of Gentlemen, as one of the writers / actors, Steve Pemberton originates from there, & I'm sure they based Royston Vasey on it, Lesley.

I'm near a ginormous cemetery - used to nip through there sometimes as a short-cut, till someone I know shouted at me for doing it - he said there are corpses found there regularly (I mean freshly murdered, unburied ones) and thugs encouraging their mad pit-bulls to fight each other & eat small passing terriers. There's a prison down the road, and someone escapes from there every other week, and when they do, helicopters come & hover over the cemetery, for ages, 'cause that's where the escapees often head for, to hide for a bit among gravestones & monuments. Seems it's a place where every manner of dangerous lunatic gathers to socialise.

That cemetey sounds terrifying! I think my idea of what's rough has changed since I moved here. Last year, the kebab shop owner was punched in the face because he ran out of salad. That was all over the local papers. Not much happens round here really. Some of the local inbred people are just very odd and unfriendly, but not really violent.

It's not really a publicly saturated area. Cinderford is the largest local town and it's only small. We're in quite an isolated area really.

I'll look you up Apprentice. I've been trying to decide on somewhere nice for a little holiday. The Pennines look great, although Mr P fancies Shropshire, so I don't know yet.

@ Hex, Finland looks so beautiful. If I ever get the money together, I hope to eventually vist all the Scandinavian countries. I went to Iceland once and everyone there was so tall and beautiful, like a master race. I think Finnish people must be like that too. You also have Moomins.

Here we go, Imatra, south east Finland, little town of about 28k people, huge rapids, huge paper factory, too many tourists, too many stupid Finns, lot of lakes and forest.

Mansikkala apartment blocks, I used to live in one of those.. Far in the background you can see Enso(Svetogorsk) paper factory, that town used to belong to Finland before WWII. Yea, the border is close, it's about 10km from the spot where the pic was taken.



Mansikkala, I spent my childhood around here.

Actually I did google dogging spots. There's one out Coleford way, or by St Briavels if I remember rightly.

I know your neck of the woods too. It's lovely there. I quite fancied the village when I moved to the area, but Mr P refused due to danger of flooding. Not that it's made any difference this year, it's all flooded.
