Wych elm is a beautiful timber, shades of green , blue and red in its pattern, very unusual. Not as freely available as common elm, and much more dense. Used to be used for pump shafts tubes, under your common village water pumps. Its about 12" in diameter, and 4 inches deep. Although its a dense interlocking grain, it turns well with sharp tools.
