Once i pointed out that America had moved forward with multiculturalism by having a black president (who is now on his second term) and that racism is joked about in a Dave Chapel type way it did not go over well here at SZ. The reason i believe that happened is because of the situation in the UK. The British are a long way from having a black Prime Minister and getting rid of their Monarchy. Once i mentioned people over there are still living under the rule of the Royal Sceptre it struck a major nerve. Then i posted those pictures of the Diamond Jubilee and people took it as a personal attack. There is no moving forward for the British as long as they live under the Monarchy and everyone on this forum and DIF know that. Understandably it's a really sore topic as it should be. People here wan't to debate about the Banks, Dept and monetary policy when all they need to do is stop over analyzing the system and get rid of their Monarchy so the UK can finally sort itself out. I was under the impression this is what caused the anti-american vibe around here like K-Bone had pointed out. It's hard to even bring this up Rick without getting your thread put in the rant room where it will never be seen again.
I would guess it probably just bugged people if you kept going on about it. Probably because:
a/People on this sort of scene tend not to like the queen anyway.
b/Everyone knows this country is run by The City with it's marvelous financial products that never fail.
c/If we got rid of the monarchy tomorrow not much would change, though it would still be nice.
d/You've never had a female president, but we've had a female prime minister. And look at how that turned out. It doesn't matter if America elects a disabled Pakistani lesbian hermaphrodite president - they'll still preside over the same bullshit system.
I'd recommend taking a leaf out of British comic fiction's book and going down this route
It's very multi-racial and the lobbyists and Wall Street would have a hell of a time trying to push their agenda.
In fact, electing animals to supreme office is, I reckon, a fantastic route to anarchy. Anyone fancy starting a campaign? I want a cat for the UK because I like cats.
