If you believe there is a sinister agenda do you think it all started in the early 1960's?

Do you mean a sinister agenda in general? Some say that it's all an agenda, but I don't really agree with that, some of it, even a lot of it? Possibly, but isn't it just creativity and entertainment when it comes down to it?

Making money is probably not what you meant. It is an entire industry so to make one broad statement is impossible really. Some movies will pander to what audiences want to make money. Some movies will use product placement to help raise funds. Some people do it fiercely independently though and clearly care about the art or the message.

War movies are either patriotic or anti war in tone(for the most part) if you want the US military to let you use their property etc in a film then it had best not be anti war or "unamerican" or it won't be supported.

So money is the main motivator. Political or religious ideas are not really pushed in any one direction in my view.

Cash is the primary objective.
They take it at the box office, in advertising revenue or in supersizing crap at the concession kiosks.

If it's not making money, it's ditched.

Maybe most humans just enjoy watching violence and I was over-analyzing...
