No, I think you’re right, Gilly. He was always described as young before taking office, and it seems bizarre to say this now, but I even think he was considered handsome by some. Actually, in general, people’s feelings about Blair were almost entirely positive pre-1997. I remember watching the 1997 election with my friends, and being chastised for being the only one that hadn’t voted. I wish I had a time machine so I could go back and relive that evening.
