1phil4everyill.wordpress.com/2009/02/19/musings-on-psychopathy/
The mind of the psychopath is virtually completely ego, which is the natural or animalistic mind. With ‘humane’ I mean the abstract substance that keeps humans and societies of people from flying apart; it’s the psycho-spiritual ‘glue’ that holds us together and includes notions of care, love, kindness and respect for fellow human beings. Without those attributes humans seize to be human and stand to degenerate into wild animals if given half a chance. Psychopaths are schoolbook examples of wild animals, ferocious predators to be exact, although they may excel in disguising their nature by acting civilized in most situations. Just like wild animals however, psychopaths are likely to be not dissuaded from accomplishing their goals and satisfying their needs even if it goes at the expense of others. The psychopath, unlike normal people, has no conscience that gets in the way of their selfishly parasitic antics and wants.

Psychopaths assume they can afford to hurt fellow human beings because they have no empathy for (most of the other) people, which they are inclined to label as weak and simply worthy of being ‘dealt’ with as soon as they are perceived to have become a liability. Psychopaths assume they can afford to act selfishly and ruthlessly since they expect their psychopath peers to just follow suit and who they feel may even, heaven forbid, try to outcompete them, and loss is not an option in the “code of conduct” of the psychopath.
The true measure of a man is not his intelligence or how high he rises in this freak establishment. The true measure of a man is this: how quickly he can respond to the needs of others and how much of himself he can give - Philip K. Dick.

I think that's poor advice, tbh. It's very easy to say, & no problem if you've nothing to loose, but you've got to weigh up for yourself whether it's likely to clear the air, or create problems for yourself that you just don't need. I believe you can be true to your principles without needing to stick your neck out to fight every battle.

For clarity, I was on about getting your views 'out there' via the medium of banter....not getting your workmates to suck your cock...

Some of us just can't let things slip by us unchallenged gilly.
Sound advice though about weighing things up.

It's true they hardly get mentioned other than on TV shows about prison gangs and stuff like.

It's nothing at all like the EDL as a current movement which are active and getting media attention now.

Only reason i even mentioned it was because Hugo said his unity' poster was defaced with the letters EDL at work.

Correct the KKK are a spent force...Fucking Brits are so ignorant about the world about them :killinme:

For better or worse, I'm getting increasingly better at doing just that as I age. Perhaps I've just given up.

Cheers Gilly...this was my thinking pretty much. If there were others there it may be different, but it's literally just me and this fella through the week. We don't even have an office and I'm dependent on him for somewhere to keep my shit as I don't have a locker. He also decides things likes breaks and early-ups, so after some careful consideration, I decided to just grin and bare it. I can't be accused of partaking in it if I just stay quiet after all, though doubtless some would accuse me of just that.

@ merc...it may surprise you to know that not everyone wants a piece of this. Goodness knows, it still shocks me to the core.

I'm kind of in agreement with both you & Knobs. I do think some stuff is too important - and this might be one of those things - except that you're in a vulnerable position with not having been there long. It's easy enough for work colleagues to cook up excuses to get rid of folk on a whim, without their ever admitting it's got anything to do with sexual orientation. And that being the case, does the opinion of a few dim-wits really matter that much? Imo, the answer's no, because earning a crust is too important at present.

If they're doing it less as time goes on, maybe that's 'cause they respect you as a person, and are in the process of working out for themselves how silly bigotry is, without the need for the banter which could possibly lead to hostility.

I just think sometimes it's sensible to keep it buttoned, and that doesn't mean you've given up. You're just boxing clever.

Too fucking true. And absolutely no legal aid for tribunals now AFAIK, even if they don't find a way of getting rid of you legally, which they probably will.

In principle, you should always stand up for what you believe in. But as Sun Tzu once wrote: "He who knows when he can fight and when he cannot, will be victorious."

I got into an argument recently on FB with somebody I went to school with. He's always been a whiny whinging little shit but I never had him down as a fucking Thatcher loving tory. He was basically repeating the media lines of 'great leader'... 'did so much for women'... 'show some respect' and on & on. No matter how much evidence i posted that she was a total cunt he just couldn't see why anybody wouldn't like her !
Then he ended up deleting his own thread....
Sad bastard.
