The cat noticed the dog was getting more attention and decided to be a bad kitty.
The dog realized that if the cat continued pretending to be a tiger, nine lives would go quickly

Also the dog realized the owners were trying to wind the poor creature up. The dog at the end refused to "get the kitty"
