The sexual grooming of children has been condemned by Muslim leaders across the UK in a sermon read to thousands of worshippers.
Organisers Together Against Grooming (TAG) said imams at hundreds of mosques had pledged to read the sermon to congregations during Friday prayers.
The sermon highlighted how the Koran emphasised that Muslims must protect children and the vulnerable.
The policing minister Damian Green said it was a "very important" move.
"It reminds people that the vast majority, the overwhelming majority, of British Muslims, condemn child sexual abuse as strongly as any other group in modern Britain," he said.
Sheikh Ibrahim Mogra, an imam at Abu Bakr Mosque in Leicester, said: "People were troubled by us reading the sermon and one man asked me how he could stop it being read.
"He said 'it was not our fault this had happened, our religion does not teach us to do these things and we are condemning it'.
Thousands of children are sexually abused by gangs and groups in England each year, according to a report.
The Office of Children's Commissioner study says there were 2,409 victims in the 14 months to October 2011 - but the true number is likely to be far higher.
The report also identifies 16,500 children who were at "high risk of sexual exploitation" in 2010-11.
David Cameron told the House of Commons the report was "extremely disturbing" and should be studied carefully.
The report, titled "I thought I was the only one - the only one in the world", sets out the findings from the first year of a two-year inquiry.
It is the first study to set out the scale of the sexual exploitation of children and young people. It comes in the wake of the jailing in May of 9 Asian men for grooming and sexually exploiting white girls as young as 13 in Rochdale, Greater Manchester...
Jurors heard at the men's trial at the Old Bailey how six girls, aged at the time between 11 and 15, were plied with alcohol and drugs before being forced to perform sex acts.
Some were beaten and burned and threatened to be branded like cattle...
The court heard how the men - two of east African origin and five of Pakistani origin - identified vulnerable girls for abuse and then groomed each one of them until they were under the control of the gang.
They were then each either abused by the men themselves, given to the men's friends or offered at a price to others who were not on trial.
The girls were mostly chosen because their unsettled or troubled lives made them easier to manipulate...

If the media are happy to expose the Muslim ones while keeping quiet about the rest, I'd still spit on their graves. It's just frightening that there are so many adults out to prey on children. All of them need stopping and holding accountable - I don't think that these should stay out of the spotlight, just because the others do.
I know nobody's saying they should btw, it's just that if there's accurate information about what they're doing, I think it needs publicity so that people can be vigilant . That goes for the lot of them.
What I'm trying to say is that I think it's absolutely right to condemn the Muslim pedo rings, and in doing so, it shouldn't need to be qualified by saying they're not they're not the only guilty parties, and it doesn't make all Muslims guilty. Those things should just be taken as read.
