While I ponder that last statement... :chin: ...I fail to see what greek man-hair or shaving your scrotum has to do with reviving the lost art of proper housekeeping.

Savages, all of them. :coffee:

I'm keen to hear your views on antimacassas, Absy. Is it time for a revival?

I was brought up with sheets and beadspreads....a summer set and winter set. We also had the forerunner to the duvet....the eiderdown!!!!
I only just got rid of my childhood one recently. In perffic nick it was too.....reading this thread has made me all nostalgic for my eiderdown now... :(

Me mam still used antimacassars on her new G Plan suite she had....but only on her armchair...to stop it wearing out she said.....poor love was 75 when she bought the suite, god knows how she thought it would wear out before her, bless her.

I've a brothet-in-law whose mother wouldn't allow him or his dad rest their heads on the back of the sofa or armchairs, and she'd only let them go up & down the stairs so many times a day so that they didn't wear the carpet out too quick. :hahano:

I've told him he has to climb up the bannisters in our house if he wants to go to the upstairs loo.

It's that blasted brylcream all the kids seem to wear these days...it's a bugger to get out once it's set. Very sensible woman. Quite where you purchase anti-maccassars these days though is anyone's guess.

I've found us a nice bed Abs. Do you like?

A395 Cinderella

Wave your magic wand and this carriage may appear to make your little princess' dreams come true. This fanciful coach bed is the most extraordinary children's bed we've ever seen. Handcrafted in England of wood and fiberglass, the oval shaped interior measures just over 6 ft. in diameter. Construction and delivery time on this piece is over 6 months. The bar is set with this magnificent piece; it simply has no equal outside of fairy tales. Linens and interior options priced upon request. The price of a dream come true? $47,000
