Possibly internet based,possibly a petition type thing where people can vote for non of the above regarding political parties.

Think it would be interesting to compare the figures between people who have confidence in the political crooks and those who don't.

Because it is internet based it would be open to hacking or accusations of having been hacked to skew the result whichever way and therefore it would be completely dismissed.

Sad but true.

Mind you, proven to have been hacked Diebold voting machines in the US are perfectly permissible.

Spoiling the ballot paper is not the same and is not a valid enough political statement.

I caught a purportedly Brand inspired debate about voting on R4 last night whilst driving to see da man.
One of the comments was that not voting weakens democracy.
Well as I understand it, it goes like this:
You vote for a party because you like what they say they'll do should they be elected or what they say they won't do. You essentially vote for those policies.
Invariably, once elected the winning party/parties then pretty much ignore those policies when it suits. They have 4 odd years to do whatever the politicos want. A public consultation/referendum is a very rare thing indeed.
So you don't get what you voted for, even if you vote for the winner/s....
It's that dear R4 guest, that weakens democracy...The fact that the system is undemocratic.......

My understanding of direct democracy was no politicians are involved at any stage, they are obsolete. I suppose my understanding is everything goes to a referendum.
