I wouldn't say its exactly that way as people in general are having fewer kids now regardless and bright kids can have dumb parents
I would say its a mixture of dumb govt and private enterprise greed reinforcing the same shit again and again combined with psychopaths who take advantage and intelligent people who specifically do not bother with it all.
The result is that things slowly get worse, change is only ever aimed at profit and for the sakes of making politicians look like they are doing 'something' when all they are doing is fucking with things that they know nothing about and couldn't care less about anyway, indeed not caring is a prime marker of psychopaths ofc and they inevitably end up in politics.
Is it worrying? Absolutely
In fact, anyone with common sense can plainly see that if things continue the way they are we are looking at extinction without having to worry about any earthquakes or asteroids. We'll probably poison ourselves into sterility and maybe even kill ourselves off with some superbug in combination with global warfare at some point or some global corporation will end up hoarding all the money in existence and we'll all end up on the fucking dole.
No global master plan conspiracy is needed tbpfh.
