Without a doubt, there is NOTHING Christian (be it catholic, protestant, orthodox) in denying a young woman an education because she was a sinlge mother. Rather, the Christian thing to do would be to give her all the help one can for the sake of her, her family and her child.

"Teacher, this woman was caught in the act of adultery."
When they kept on questioning him, he straightened up and said to them, "If any one of you is without sin, let him be the first to throw a stone at her."
At this, those who heard began to go away one at a time, the older ones first, until only Jesus was left, with the woman still standing there
Jesus straightened up and asked her, "Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?"
"No one, sir," she said. "Then neither do I condemn you," Jesus declared
This and the multitude of charities, missions, schools and shelters working every day to help vunerable people like this young girl and her child shows that the man has no idea of the church that he claims to be part of.
The tax evasions show that Padraig O'Shea is obviously an opportunist and merely playing lip service to morality: he is clearly going against the teaching of both the Gospels AND the Catechism.

Other than claiming to be catholic he does not represent the RCC; not that this institution is blameless but in this case it is blameless by any means.
