Don't really know all too much about Hubbard himself. Haven't even read his books. But I have used techniques he supposedly taught, non-hypnotic memory retrieval, on a few people...seemed to work just fine, with good results. So if I was to form an opinion off of what he taught (I learned from someone else) and from my experience using those techniques, I'd have to say he was on to something.
What are the techniques starchildren?
Start with the most recent traumatic memory, go over it and over it and over it til the person no longer has any emotional charge connected to it (and you get more details basically every time you go over it with them)... then you go back to another, and repeat the procedure (if the party wants to)... basically it's disconnecting the traumatic, and emotional charges that get connected to bad experiences. Also is used for past life, and recovering a memory that you may have forgotten.
Edit: Damnit... Didn't mean to really explain how it works...

The techniques involve being a good listening and asking questions without "leading" the person at the basic levels. Emeters are used for more advanced people and the party they are putting back. I know there is probably some technical way of explaining it all, but I start out with "return to (specific incident or a traumatic experience)" and it goes from there.
that sounds like de sensitising areas blocked by
emotions that the person would rather blockuu out than accept ,
opeople who do this actually dont forget traumatic episodes they just cant communicate them to others through fear of showing emotional responses that they think embaresssing almost ,
so by going over and over traumatic events
they expose more and more until they communicate to others thoughts trapped inside through anxiety or fear
i think .
