I'm not sure Feather, I think I just like watching the variety of sports and enjoy watching the best in the world compete

Sport coverage is normally fixated on football in this country with occassional rugby and 3 weeks of tennis so I enjoy watching a variety the variety of sports that the olympics offers

Sometimes I get engrossed and really start hoping 'my favourite' will win

Today I have watched the Judo ...........and liked it

The 12 gauge shotgun event .........and liked it

The cycling .............and liked it

The horse dancing......didn't like that

The archery ...........and liked it

The canoeing ...........and liked it

For the record:
I'm not against personal participation and exertion in 'sporty' things, far from it. Have at it Hoss and enjoy yourself.
Spectator sports for me are a bit confusing.
Just what gives a spectator the right to use terms like "us" and "we" when referring to the achievements of someone else?

It's the hijacking and twists that become attached that piss me off most.
Nations, corporations, etc diminish those personal achievements by superimposing their flags and logo's over them.
That is the Olympics in a nutshell for me and why I dislike them.


Before anyone jumps. I just found the pic below amusing. It's not intended as a veiled comment on anyones support or enjoyment of the games. :)

But yes, I used to enjoy watching the gymnasts and figure skaters. I haven't watched it this year though. It would be very exciting to see some extra activities in the olympics, such as roller-blading, surfing, snow boarding, dancing and zip lining.
