It used to be illegal for people to film you without your permission (don't know if it still is), but the government are exempt from that.

I checked it out a few years ago, when a council bod stood at the other side of the road filming me, while I was outside work having a cigarette break.

I suppose he was hoping to issue a littering fine, but was disappointed, as I always use a little ashtray with a lid, that's clipped to my key-ring. I left it in my pocket till I'd slowly smoked right down to the filter, so that he could be irritated at wasting his time.

So, I agree with your point - if those in power can photograph us against our will, goolies to their whimpering about privacy invasion when it happens to them.

It's a small price to pay for say, stealing all the land & expecting fealty without any consent.
