A French magazine has published topless photos of the Duchess of Cambridge.

Closer says the pictures were taken when the duke and duchess were on holiday last week at the French chateau of the Queen's nephew, Lord Linley.

The couple are saddened about what they consider to be a breach of their privacy on what was a personal break.

It doesn't matter who she is or what 'title' she has...I for one would be distraught if I had felt quite safe to go topless sunbathing at a relatives home in privacy only to find some perverted peeping Tom had taken snaps and put them all over the net and magazines.

Just listened to that git, Jeremy Vine talking about it on the radio, and reading people's emails about it.

He, and everyone else are talking about poor William (even though it wasn't his boobs on display) and how this incident must have brought back terrible memories of the press hounding his mother to death.

I can see both sides. It would just be the decent thing to let people have a bit of privacy. Yet I also agree with Dawn - they know they're hot stuff to the media, so why leave themselves vulnerable?

Some might say that if you let the BBC spend millions of pounds beaming your wedding live all over the world, and it's a public ceremony with hundreds of thousands of people lining the streets, and you make public appearances all the time, and you have access to any media you want for propaganda purposes all the time, and your very lavish lifestyle is entirely funded by the public...then it's quite hard to then legitimately demand privacy as well.

What Dawn said. Whether or not I or any of you agree with it, it goes on and always will. Long as certain chumps keep lapping it up and buying these rags, anyway.

As Wake_Up_Bomb made mention of, it's not like they don't put their life on display with royal weddings and whatnot. The old adage, 'Live by the sword, die by the sword', comes to mind. Maybe an update to that in relationship to this incident could be, 'Live like a royal, die like a royal'.

Personally, I'm not into the sympathy thing to start with. Empathy is a different matter, though I find it difficult to muster any empathy about this situation for the plight of an individual that will in all likelihood not do a days work in the rest of her life to support the lifestyle that she will be living in.

I see she's been spending a bit too much time with Harry...he's starting to wear off on her...public nudity and all.

You live a very public life, chances are that at one time or another, the camera is gonna catch you doing something you'd rather the world not see...kinda comes with the territory.
