I can't find this in English & don't speak the language, but the object looks a lot like others that have been filmed in the skies over the States & France recently, and portrayed as UFO's. :scotty:

Either a shooting star passing behind the volcano, or something else.

Considering just how many revelations of nefarious activities that have come to light recently, I would not be suprised if this proves to be "either" either,

I remain skeptical both ways.

It was on the news, so you wouldn't expect it to be photo-shopped, but unless it's my eyes playing up, it looks like there's a shadow cast down its right hand side, that makes it look like something superimposed on a 2D background picture. I'm not knowledgeable about those things though.

Gilly could you just explain what was seen over US and France please? Because in the context of your OP, there are no active volcanoes in France :D

Looking at the footage I call CGI.
However we are going through the Perseid meteor shower I think at the mo...but that looks like no meteor/shooting star.....

No, they were just in the sky - not entering volcanoes. I'll look for the vids. (Though I feel like I'm wasting my time a bit since the consensus is that it's an illuminated, toxic sausage or something :D ).
