Not a thought as I haven't watched the vid in the OP, merely a knee-jerk post to the thread title...

Well, briefly speaking, politics and religion are one and the same, when politics abandons religion, which would be great.
We will have a true separation of churchs and state. Religion today is politics in disguise.

I think the guy in the video is a bit of a smart arse. He is smart but I don't think it is about religion. I think religion is the horse that they ride.

Since much of the violence around the world is instigated by the united states and the leaders claim to be Christian. Now my understanding of Christianity is that it is a peaceful religion that has the thou shalt not kill philosophy. So of course religion is shouted but clearly it is bollocks.

So condescending to people who are religious ignores a lot.

Love Dave Allen. I'd forgotten about him.

When my son started school, the only local one we could get him into was a Catholic school, & he was terrified because he had to walk past grave stones in the school grounds.

He told me he didn't want to go and live in a hole under a stone. I told him there was nothing to worry about, as people are usually old when they pass over, and he started panicking about how old me & his gran are.

He was just tiny, and proper worrying, and said he didn't want to die, because he wouldn't know where to go or what to do. So I told him I'd sort it make sure I'm there to organise him, so he'd stop fretting.

I suggested to the school that they screen off the graves, but they were displeased by such comments, & the other mothers started coming up to me saying that their kids weren't bothered by it. I sympathised with them for having unthinking off-spring.

The priest used to try to kill people, by driving out through the entrance on a one-way road, forcing in-turning cars to have to reverse into 50mph heavy traffic. He tried it with me once, and we sat nose to nose for a good 10 minutes, with him scowling like a gargoyle, and me scowling back, before he gave up and backed up.

I know very well that not all Catholics are like that, but the experience from that one particular school was that the teachers, parents & priest were all a set of nutters.

Dave Allen was brilliant!
He was also prime time telly remember.

Give him a chair, a whiskey and a pack of cigs and he would have you folded up for ages, just telling the truth.
The filmed sketches were usually rubbish though.

Althouhg I disagree with Dave Allen, I can certainly enjoy the funny side and don't find this offensive, but actually really funny.
