Have watched quite a few of those - last night i rewatched dogtown and z boys - really enjoyed the accompanying film lords of dogtown - am currently in the midde of watching 'the cove' but am having a break as it is emotionally hard going - got a few more lined up to watch later if I can't sleep.
Sometimes, if you stand on the bottom rail of a bridge and lean over to watch the river slipping slowly away beneath you, you will suddenly know everything there is to be known.

Should i just skip it?

I'm a desensitised american but i don't like animals getting killed by humans...

Dolphins are like the dogs of the sea and it would make me sad to see humans kill them... :(

Is the movie just that powerful?

the movie is incredibly emotive and has been accused of being propaganda and no doubt it is - the film is about the dolphin mass captures that happen in taiji? (probably got that wrong) in japan - where many dolphinariums go to choose which dolphins they wish to take into captivity - the rest (estimated at 23,000 annually) are killed - it also looks at the way in which japan buys votes from small poor countries at the iwc in order to continue with their practices.

There are a couple of really difficult scenes - but for me the overwhelmingly sad thing is the senselessness of it all and the suffering pain and fear we put animals through - tbh this film could have been about any animal and I would have ended up a wreck.

The other half told me to turn it off as I was crying uncontrollably at one point but I think it is important to remind myself that there is so much we need to change about human behaviour.

Yea, sometimes i watch painful stuff like that so i can have an honest view of how some humans are.
