Well I'd been keeping my eye on a few threads elsewhere, where people were downloading & discussing, and were waiting for the encryption codes. But having been off doing other things, I've returned to find those threads deleted by admin, who are afraid to have their forum seen to be participating, or even cheering anonymous on!

Well some vpn's instead of using a password login use a key thats given out privately and stored on the remote PC which uses it in conjunction with some bespoke software for the job from the likes of cisco or juniper etc.
Thats the vpn example, the keys or 'certs' can also be used in conjunction with username/password.

SSH is secure shell access which is used for logging into linux machines for example, its poss to have a private key which avoids the need to use password for login as the key was generated by the server and recognised on connection.

The other instance where it could be used is for an encrypted file, such as when you pgp encrypt a file before emailing it to someone, they would have the private key which matches the public one you used to encrypt it so they can decrypt it.

Lastly you may have noticed wifi connections often use AES encryption for logging on etc.

The most likely scenario is that the AES key they have made public is the PRIVATE key of the justice dept individuals named, in which case lots of encrypted docs could be opened etc.

picture this... you locked yourself outside, you need your keys to get back in (house, car, etc...)... the download is your house/car/etc... the 256bit key is how you get back in/unlock the door

YES it is for real. the information has already been spread across the internet, quietly, on mirror sites as well as spread psychically on several flashdrives/usb drives. it can be downloaded n saved, copied n spread even further. the operation began on jan 25, the first attack on the site (ussc) was friday morn, the second attack was in the evening, by the following morn the site was down. if the government (US) does not comply w demands the encrypted information along with decryption keys will be released.

im sure some of them are, u dont have an organization like this without infiltration from the enemy... u dont trust ur best friend farther than u can throw them, but u give them the benefit of doubt, u work with them until they prove otherwise or u start to suspect then you feed them false information to draw their true colors out n hang them with it. kinda like the old saying, "keep ur friends closer, keep ur enemies closer".
the few "friends" i know, i went to college with, not controlled opposition...neither was adam swartz, who according to some did hack for anon from time to time, did give them info, etc... not saying its true, not saying its not, just puttin it out there for ppl to think on, as to why anon would take it this far over one persons murder.
