Trust me Dub, when you are in a hole its best to stop digging. They dont over heat in traffic.
You're disagreeing with many many people that have had it happen there gris

Bugs abd campers are renowned for it A fan blowing hot air doesn't do much cooling

EDIT, I've just had a look and apparently a lot of these overheating issues ARE caused by people fiddling with the cooling system. Probably watercooled heads like me thinking frickin crap aircooleds and hitting them with hammers

And you dont run a heater in an aircooled engine either. Its heat from the heat exchangers, and whether open or shut , they do nothing for the engine temperature.
Actually I think you're right there having thought about it

On a beetle the heat exchangers take heat from the exhaust manifold don't they? So yes I can see that I may have fekked up there. oops. It would have an effect, running the heater on one but nowhere near as much as I was saying. It'd be minimal. I'll admit I was wrong there.
I can see we are going to have our hands full teaching you mechanics Dub
Granted, it does seem you could teach me a thing or two about aircooled mechanics. That said, I probably wouldn't be listening

You may have noticed I'm not a fan of them. When VW added water to the boxer engine they did a very very good thing in my opinion. I know what you aircooled lot are like though and how highly you regard them. each to their own
I'll only comment on real cars in future
