This has nothing to do with survival or communities, but some of you folks seem a lot more green fingered than me.

I have a lily which I've grown indoors from a cutting. It came from a hotel and I know nothing more about it than that. Problem is, my flat is tiny and I'm struggling to find somewhere to keep it now, as it's grown quite large. If it helps to identify it, it tends to grow up rather than out and need a lot of additional support.

I have thought about setting it back to nature outside in the common area, but am not sure if lilies are hardy enough for British weather and I am loathe to kill it off. I have nowhere else to put it though, where it might benefit from the sunlight we do get or not get effected by things like the computer or the TV.

Any suggestions? Cheers.

Is this a peace lilly? White flower with a yellowy spike and dark green spear shaped leaves? Like this?:

Ok ty. You do see them planted outside. If you're going to do it, you need to find a shady spot. Direct mid-day sun will kill it as will lack of water so shade is your friend. Not complete shade though. A bit of morning and/or evening sun would be good. They are not what you'd call fully hardy so if it stays out you're going to need to protect it in winter from icy winds and frost.

Try not to shock it too much when you move it. Pick an overcast but warmish day to transplant it, water it first and water the hole you put it in.

I could bend down and dig the hole and you could like stand behind me to watch and learn or summat. I'll have to bring my hot pants and vest tops I think cos it'll be hot work and I may um perspire a little bit if I wear too much clothing
