Self-sufficiency is the state of not requiring any aid, support, or interaction, for survival; it is therefore a type of personal or collective autonomy. The term self-sufficiency is usually applied to varieties of sustainable living in which nothing is consumed outside of what is produced by the self-sufficient individuals. Examples of attempts at self-sufficiency include simple living, homesteading, off-the-grid, survivalism, DIY ethic and the back-to-the-land movement. Practices that enable or aid self-sufficiency include autonomous building, permaculture, sustainable agriculture, and renewable energy. The term is also applied to limited forms of self-sufficiency, for example growing one's own food or becoming economically independent of state subsidies. Some other interesting facts about the Scottish land reform act 2003:

Allodial land
This is land that is held absolutely, ie without a superior or other hierarchical tenure. Effectively all land in Scotland is now allodial following the abolition of the feudal system, although this expression is not generally coined, and the term "ownership" is used.

Yes it seems a pretty strong indicator of that.

I think the feudal system was dissolved here around 2000.

Privately owned land just that, the title is registered and you are trespassing if try to camp on it, but as far as I'm aware, the crown no longer have an official claim over free land here

According to those rules its OK to camp on any wild land as long as you are respectful of the environment dawn.
It says you can't camp for example close to a farmhouse dwelling within sight of it and earshot and not in a field full of farmers cattle lol.
So its a common sense access kind of thing.

yip

It has always been like that in principal up here though, as long as you aren't camping in the farmers front garden or worrying the livestock you can pitch your tent wherever.

I was really taken aback when I discovered that was not the case in England
