What if the future is merely mass unemployment and removal of social welfare payments?
What then? How do you survive that?
I think that's a fairly realistic possibility. But despite so many people being petty minded and self-centred, that would surely push others to object strenuously, as their own friends and family are chucked out to starve. I'd hope that would lead to an overthrowing of government.

And haven't we seen all 3 mainstream political parties do just this over the past few years?
Logic tells me that this is the future we are heading towards, basically the UK cities getting bigger in terms of population because of complete job loss in rural areas, big supermarkets cornering the entire high street and online retailers, further persecution of the unemployed, immigrants and the disabled and perhaps even the elderly in the near future when the pension crisis hits.
If this overthrow of gov was to happen it 'should' have happened already, yet many people all too often we've seen on forums (including this one) toeing the exact party line I mention there, despite lining themselves up for being persecuted themselves later on when they lose their jobs which they think are secure for the moment.
The gov doesn't have to cut off welfare completely btw, I expect a slow gradual rollback and more involvement by the likes of ATOS.
Theres visible beefy security guards in jobcentres now for example, maybe armored stormtroopers soon? :/
Thats what bothers me rather than an immediate catastrophic scenario which tbh I would actually prefer! At least in that scenario everyone is in the same boat...with the slow turn of the screw theres always social division and therefore control.
