nobody HAS to go the whole TEOTWAWKI route if they don't want to, but considering the weather we have had lately, a week or two weeks food in the cupboard, some bottles of water, blankets, a torch or two, a camp stove and some extra toilet rolls wouldn't go amiss surely?? nobody has to make it their life's work just see a bit further than next weekend that's all I'm saying. there are plenty of "hobby" preppers out there AND people who don't even consider themselves preppers but just decide to have a bit more in store than normal "just in case"!!!

One of the perplexing things about some preppers' apocalyptic scenario is the simultaneous and paradoxical existence/non-existence of other people.

By which I mean: one often hears that few will survive and we are given diminishing populations being halved in weeks and at the same time there is much talk of isolating oneself an protecting ones family from the hordes of people who come to take "our stuff"

I believe that there is something at the heart of this paradoxical perception of people as "others" which is very telling about the rather dehumanising point of view that some preppers express.

I may be wrong, but it seems that people are seen as two types of "other": threat and/or inferior

Basically we did not want anyfucker coming into the area, no matter who, so thats the options people are going to face if its a virus/plague like scenario. By not coming into the area I mean killing them or telling them to move on. Without a full biohazard suit though its a lottery.
Luck will play a big part in who survives, even Bear can get killed by a falling branch while walking in the woods

Probably the sole useful thing I know for such an eventuality is that teatree oil set in a burner has some effect in killing off airborne viruses .

Find out where you’re local CDC are..Central Distribution Centres, Tesco’s, Sainsbury etc etc, normally quite close to the MSR motorways. Now if you have a plan to bug out is your location near one or would you pass one to your location ?
Your bug out location:
Does it have natural springs ?
Lakes nearby ?
Estuary close by ?
Forest ?
What wildlife inhabits the woodlands...Deer/Boar/ Type of birds
Have you the capability to put a timber heading into the side of a hill/mountain for a tunnel ?
Do you have an overview of the area you’re operating in ? Ie can you view MSR or Towns or Villages from distance with Binocs to view events ?...if buildings are burning, how long have they been burning, any government agencies attempting to put them out, ?

Have you tried getting to your location in different seasons?
Summer stroll is a bit different to Autumn/Winter when fields may be flooded and rivers bank high so your route you recced in summer is now fucked.
