This is probably going to end up being a whole heap of banks.

Something positive might come out of it if we're lucky, starting with management valuing their IT staff for a change.

I know you don't actually believe this to be a possibility...more to the pity.

I try not to let my cynicism spill out but hey...it just plops out there for all to see, I can't help it :D

Don't worry, Andy. I often have that problem myself.

According to BT, all servers UK-wide last night 'dropped' at around 1am so nobody anywhere had internet access. They advised it would last about 12 hours, depending on how long it took them to fix.

Ofc, they could have been lying, as they often do, but it made me think of this. :umm:

It also made me realise just how reliant I am (often, through having no other choice in the matter) on goods and services provided via the internet.

The chap I spoke to in Bangalore sounded a bit stressed. :chuckle:

'servers dropped' LOL!!

I love the way they use these stupid descriptions for hassles that probably don't even involve any 'servers' at all!

I'm with BT, and the connection started having issues at around 11.30 pm. I couldn't get on here from that time, but had 'limited' access to elsewhere. By 1am it was completely down.

Was back up and running this morning, but still slow. Useless mofo's...

Yep, my natwest account was untouched, benefits in, standing orders out.

I feel almost insulted! Obviously not enough in there to be messing around with. :coffee:

Have to say, if the loverly Andy was my boss, I'd probably let it slide for a bit too. He's dead pretty and I bet he has a real silver tongue on him when needs be, too.

I work for a firm of accountants who provide umbrella companies to a lot of contractors. They bank with the NatWest, so last week, loads of contractors didn't get their wages. Despite being in talks with the bank the whole day this poop hit the fan, they didn't let the money go through because the the balance of funds available is invisible.

They're gradually catching up with payments, but the contractors affected have to jump through hoops and present all kinds of documentation before they can withdraw any funds.

The accountants have had to set up lots of individual agreements with the bank to release advances to contractors (again with loads of red tape attached) in situations where the victims state they've no money to travel to work etc because of these delays in payment.

NatWest have agreed to reimburse anyone who can prove this fiasco has cost them money (i.e. charges incurred for bounced DD's etc). It's going to cost them dearly.
