Today I decided to dump my pc down the tip as everything is going mobile, my laptop has windows 8 loaded and I do like it and is now my main computer. I now into streaming such Netflix, Iplayer etc and I use my smartphone for accessing services out and about.

Irre needs a computer to replace his PS3 so if anyone else is throwing stuff out please put a shout out here before you take a trip to the tip! You can also offer stuff to people that may be in need of stuff in the trade zone.

No they were 10 years old, I built them and I know some parts were on its way out, I do not normally throw out stuff which is less than 5 years old, but it was time. I would not dream insulting you people with failing equipment, but at the end of the day it is only an item.

I got my xbox 360 for games, sky hd, bt vision and sony blu ray and of course my lappy. So I do not feel sad.

It's alright dj. Our old computer carced it last year and that was around 10 years old so I know what you mean about parts being on their way out.

Well I actually installed Linux Mint 13 kde on my laptop and I was taken back with the speed and quality it is giving me, I actually got win8 on here as well and I think Mint is so much better, plus my wireless does not seem to crash on here. I do have problems with win 8 and when the original software on here with constantly selling me norton av.

I dunno what it is with symantec lately, they used to make good backup software and then totally mongified it with backup exec 2012 which is a total and utter piece of dog turd.

It came installed on my laptop, I soon ditched it.

Heck, my computer is eight years old with newest part bought three years ago, working fine. I'm very much ok with old iron and windows 7.... On my recording pc I got ye olde windows XP, works like a charm, if you can say that about something micro$oft...

I have both windows 8 and linux mint 13 kde, I find that linux mint is easier to use than windows 8, obviously when software gets more complex also means that people will turn away from it.

Unfortunately my current Radeon graphics card doesn't get on with Linux at all. I've tried it with Ubuntu and Mint and I get a horrible jumbled up mess whether I'm using KDE or Gnome as the desktop.
