Experiments with cress in 9th Class attracts international attention
Foreign researchers are extremely excited for a biology project from five 9 class girls.

Take 12 times 400 Cress seeds and group them into 12 trays. Then place six trays in two rooms at the same temperature. Give same amount of water and sun over 12 days, and remember just to finish exposing half of them for mobile radiation.

It is a recipe for a biology test so brilliantly that it has attracted international attention among acknowledged biologists and radiation experts. Behind the experiment are five girls from 9b in Hjallerup School in North Jutland, and it all started with that they found it difficult to concentrate during class:

- We all think we had experienced having difficulty concentrating in school, if we had slept with the phone next to your head, and sometimes also experienced having difficulty sleeping, explains Lea Nielsen, who is one of the five aspiring researchers.

The experiment
The school was not equipped to test the effect of mobile phone radiation on them, but it was enough in fact very well. Therefore, the girls had to find an alternative. And the answer was cress seeds.

Six trays seeds were put into a room without radiation, and six trays were put into another room next to two routers. Such a broadcast about the same type of radiation as an ordinary mobile.

Then it was just to wait 12 days, observe, measure, weigh and take pictures along the way. And the result spoke his clear language: cress seeds next to the router was not grown, and some of them were even mutated or dead.

- It is truly frightening that there is so much influence, so we were even very marked by the result, says Lea Nielsen.

Reactions

The experiment secured the girls the finals in the competition "Young Scientists", but it was only the beginning. Renowned scientists from England, Holland and Sweden has since shown great interest in the girls' project so far.



The renowned professor at the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm, Olle Johansson, is one of the impressed researchers. He will now repeat the experiment with a Belgian research colleague, Professor Marie-Claire Cammaert at the Université libre de Bruxelles, for the trial, according to him, absolutely brilliant:

- The girls are within the scope of their knowledge and skills implemented and developed a very elegant job. The wealth of detail and accuracy is exemplary, choosing the right cress is very intelligent, and I could go on, he says.

He is not slow to send them an invitation on the road:

- I sincerely hope that they spend their future professional life to researching, because I definitely think they have a natural aptitude for it. Personally, I would love to see the people in my team!

No mobile by the bed
The five girls from northern Jutland has not yet decided their future careers. They are still very caught over all the sudden attention.

- It has been such a constant sum of the stomach. I still can not understand it, says Lea Nielsen.

And Mathilde Nielsen offers in:
- It's totally overwhelming and exciting. It's not something you just experience every day.

But there have also been other consequences of cress trial, which is quite low-practice nature.

- None of us sleep with the phone next to the bed more.
It's either placed far away, or it is placed in another room.
And the computer is always turned off, says Lea Nielsen.

My router is near my TV set do you think would that explain why all the original ideas died off in it years ago?

I read a book about this sort of stuff a few years ago.

Crystals, particularly quartz, are reputed to absorb the harmful electro-magnetism emitted by technological items, so I'd have liked to have seen a test for that included in the experiment.

That ones the full 5W , I don't think you can get any that are over 5watts output now.

If I put the cress right next to the router then no doubt the same would happen I bet. Inverse square rule with distance.

Mobile phones are different btw, some will have wifi too but 3g or edge data is a different frequency, again its when you hold it next to your head for ages that you see effects.

Something tells me that it won't be news to certain people, they'll have long known about the effects of wifi, mobile phone radiation, etc.

A lawsuit is set to be filed Monday alleging that the cancer afflicting students and teachers of a Bayville school is caused by the dozens of cell phone antennas attached to a nearby water tower.

Three young students of Bayville Primary School have already died of leukemia and many more are sick.

"We believe as much as 30 percent of the teachers, administrative staff and employees have been diagnosed with some type of illness, cancer, leukemia and things of that nature," said Attorney Andrew Campanelli.[..]

Studies Show Adverse Health Effects From Cell Phone Towers

Below are listed six studies that have shown significant adverse health effects on people living
near cell phone towers. According to Dr. Grahame Blackwell "these are the only studies known that
specifically consider the effects of masts on people. All six studies show clear and significant
ill-health effects. There are no known studies relating to health effects of masts that do not show
such ill-health effects."

a.. Santini et al. found significant health problems in people living within 300 meters of a cell
phone base station or tower. The recommendation was made from the study that cell phone base
stations should not be placed closer than 300 meters to populated areas. Pathol Biol (Paris) 2002;
50: 369-373.
a.. A Netherlands Organization for Applied Scientific Research study entitled, "Effects of Global
Communications System Radio-Frequency Fields On Well Being and Cognitive Function of Human Subjects
With and Without Subjective Complaints" found significant effects on well being including headaches,
muscle fatigue, pain, and dizziness from tower emissions well below the "safety" level.

b.. Gerd, Enrique, Manuel, Ceferino and Claludio conducted a Spanish study called "The Microwave
Syndrome" and found adverse health effects from those living near two cell phone base stations. The
health effects included fatigue, a tendency toward depression, sleeping disorders, difficulty in
concentration and cardiovascular problems.

c.. From an Israeli study published in the International Journal of Cancer Prevention, Vol. 1, No.
2, April 2004, Wolf and Wolf reported a fourfold increase in the incidence of cancer in people
living within 350 meters of a cell phone tower as compared to the Israeli general population. They
also reported a tenfold increase specifically among women.

d.. In the Naila Study from Germany, November 2004, five medical doctors collaborated to assess
the risk to people living near a cell phone tower. The retrospective study was taken from patient
case histories between 1994 and 2004 from those who had lived during the past ten years at a
distance up to 400 meters from the tower site. The results showed that the proportion of newly
developed cancer cases was significantly higher in those patients living within the 400-meter
distance and that the patients became ill on average eight years earlier. In the years 1999 to 2004,
after five years of operation of the transmitting tower, the relative risk of getting cancer had
trebled for residents of the area in the proximity of the installation compared to the inhabitants
of Naila outside the area.

e.. An Austrian Study released in May 2005, showed that radiation from a cell phone tower at a
distance of 80 meters causes significant changes of the electrical currents in the brains of test
subjects. All test subjects indicated they felt unwell during the radiation and some reported being
seriously ill. According to the scientists doing the study, this is the first worldwide proof of
significant changes of the electrical currents in the brain, as measured by EEG, by a cell phone
base station at a distance of 80 meters. Subjects reported symptoms such as buzzing in the head,
tinnitus, palpitations of the heart, lightheadedness, anxiety, shortness of breath, nervousness,
agitation, headache, heat sensation and depression. According to scientists this is the first proof
that electrical circuits in the brain are significantly affected by a cell phone tower. The distance
in this study was a mere 80 meters.

Cellphone towers are completely different from wifi routers. Completely different scale of power output and also different frequency.

Certainly they are definitely far far more dangerous, all sorts of EM radiation can be dangerous depending on proximity, output power and frequency/ type of radiation. Then theres duration in proximity to consider.

Eg you wouldn't want to stick your head in a microwave for example, lol

Normal high voltage power lines are another example but of a completely different type of radiation, again distance reduces effects.

Fibre to the house is the way to go but it requires massive investment which private biz is reluctant to do, again thats an investment govt should be chucking their money at instead of wars in faroffistan.

Exactly how do shields, like phone and Wi-Fi shields, work?

One needs to realise that human beings are themselves bio electrical systems with hearts and brains regulated by internal bioelectrical (EMR) signals communicating via pathways in the nervous system. It's like if your in rain and want to shield yourself, use a quartz crystals round your neck or a umbrella, its your choice.
